DVC Member Fantasy Cruise Offer

She assigned me a specific room on deck 10 (5A stateroom). I heard someone else was given a 4A for a different cruise.

I would assume you should be able to pick rooms from what they have available.

I didn't get my email til I got home tonight. I'm curious as to what the pricing is for 3rd and 4th as well. Also does anyone know if you have to have a passport for this(I'm thinking yes, can u tell we haven't traveled much outside of dvc:lmao:)

If its a closed loop cruise (beginning and ending in the U.S., which all the Fantasy ones are) you would be fine with a driver's license/state ID plus a valid U.S. birth certificate. Many recommend passports/a passport card as well, on the off chance of an illness or getting left behind on a port and having to fly home.

So in other words, you can't. Thanks for proving my point.

Good lord, could you BE any nastier?

I get PIN codes all the time for another family that we once booked a vacation with but didn't end up taking. I get much more worked up over that than this discount for a last minute trip.

I've never known DVC to toss out a discount like this. Sure, I can't go this time, but I sure hope there are more coming in the future.

I would welcome such offer for August but then I need to know now and not 1 month prior to sailing date.

Oh well, I guess this kind of last minute offers just don't work for me. Anyway I am happy for those that can make use of this offer and it is good to know that Disney is thinking about us DVC members when offering discounts.:thumbsup2

Im at the BCV right now and got the email yesterday. I am tempted as we decided not to do a summer vacation. I will give it more thought and see if it's something that would work for us. I agree about a PP, I wasn't thrilled with the larger ship. We just got off the Dream a couple of weeks ago and we like the smaller ships better. There were so many people on the Dream.

I get last minute cruise deals from Princess

We about jumped on a back to back Alaska cruise 14 days balcony cabins $1799 for mid June. Even found 2 balcony cabins next to each other mid ship and the airfare wasn't bad.

I also got the email and can also not go. It's a nice deal though for those who can. A bit surprised they are having trouble filling these cruises..wonder what the deal is with that? Economy not as rosy as some would like us to believe...cruises priced too high...too much Disney influx into the cruise world??

First time seeing this from DCL, but I get weekly emails from Princess, Holland America, NCL and Oceania with deals all year round.

Iger was on CNBC yesterday after earnings and was asked about pricing power about parks/resorts(didn't talk DCL). While spending per guest is up along with bookings Iger said they have to be careful on much they push on increases.

Perhaps DCL pushed a little too much with 2 new ships.

Several members posting on the DCL forum were able to take advantage. A few of us (including myself) were able to apply it to existing reservations. So, I'm pretty happy to get an upgrade for almost $300 less than when I booked it 2 years ago.

If it was for next year if would be a legit offer. This is a last ditch effort to fill rooms disguised as a "very special members only discount". I wouldn't have a problem if they called it what it is, and if the email was for a "last minute special price", but to make this sound like some sort of member kickback is a bit patronizing for my blood.

I sure wish we could trade our 5 night August DCL cruise for 1 in June, but we can't! Good for those who can take advantage.

I think this is great for those that can take advantage of it - wether they have one already booked or can pick up and go last minute.

Of course - it is to fill up the ships - why would they offer it otherwise:goodvibes.

I wish we could take advantage of it!

Right - but I was wondering if you could pick which one you want.. or if they say for this sailing I can put you in......

I think you could probably ask what is available. The phones were jammed last night after the email went out. The Rep that we got (the good one that knew what she was doing) said that every call has been from a DVC member. Hold time was about 50 minutes each for our first two calls and about 20 minute for the final call (because I called at 9:57 pm I am thinking most people dropped off after 10pm)
Anywhoo... The Rep gave me a 4b room (8110) but when she realized that my Dsis was linked to us and was also a DVC member she switched our rooms to a 4C so we could be connected. At the time I had no idea what the room numbers were as she was assigning, I just knew I heard her say Category 4!

To be fair, this price is less than the VGT prices they have been offering to the general public for last-minute sailing discounts.

This rate is also less than reported opening day pricing. Members who are already booked on these cruises can re-book and get $$ back in the form of OBC, which is a nice perk.
.

I think you may be able to choose. I wasn't given a choice and got it back in a refund to my card which they said would be 7-10 days. I just got a copy of the updated Reservation and I am sitting here in awe that I am getting such a large refund. I feel like I got a discount on my DVC membership.

I of course love this because we were already booked on this cruise and were able to apply the discount. I feel like other than the AP pass DVC members don't get much love, so I am feeling a little love right now!:goodvibes

We just booked this morning.

We able to get 2 connecting 4 A (!!!) rooms on the June 23 cruise and Dreams Unlimited put in the on board credit!!

Did you call to book yourself or did you email DU to call on behalf of you ? Just curious about the procedure because I thought you have to book this direct with Disney.
Did you receive the full OBC from DU ?

Yay! SteffyLou!! I saw you over on the June23 rd Meet and was hoping you would get the upgrade!!! Of course now you got a 4A and I got a 4C so I am bummed... Just kidding, I am psyched!!!:cool1:

What a joke, a discount for a cruise that's 3-4 weeks away because we can all get up and go on a week long cruise at the drop of a hat.

The dates worked for us! And hey, call it what you want, we got an awesome deal!

Question - did you have your pick of stateroom category - or is it what ever they have available?

We were able to pick our stateroom.

We were already booked for the 6/16 Fantasy sailing in a 5E oversized verandah cabin (which was a 6B when I booked it a year and a half ago.) Had to email our DU agent, who was able to get the discount applied, but then gleefully told me she got us an upgrade to a 5A - which I absolutely didn't want. Same cabin, no oversized verandah, no upper berth (which I really need traveling with my kids DS13 and DD11 so we each have our own bed.) Emailed my TA back right away and begged her to get our old cabin back, which miraculously hadn't been snatched up. So at the end of the day, I'm keeping the same cabin and saving $876. I lose $75 in OBC from DCL and Disney Visa, but keeping my $200 OBC from DU. So net gain is roughly $800 and I am one happy DVC member!
