Hello,

We've just recieved our Disney Visa cards, but they only say 'Charter Member' under our names. I've also read that you can get 'DVC Member' put on them as well. My question is, is is one or the other, or both. I would like to have both designations on my card if possible. Also, if I can only have one, is there an advantage to one over the other?

Thanks folks.

Thus far, there has been no indication of any DVC advantages- with or without the desihnation on the card.

Unless having the DVC designation is important to you, there doesn't seem to be any purpose in having it added to your card. There have been no special DVC incentives thus far with the VISA card.

Initially you had to requests through DVC, there was a code you had to use that told them it was DVC and not a regular account. I doubt you could get it changed after the fact, but give it a try.

just got my card with dvc on it but did not say anything about it when i signed up for the card.

Applications for the Disney Visa Card needed to be received by a certain date in order to be embossed with DAY 1. Cards issued to early applicants read CARDMEMBER SINCE DAY1.

As Doc mentioned, there has yet to be any benefit to having DISNEY VACATION CLUB embossed below the card owner's name. However, there may be some benefit in the future. It may be worth a call the BankOne to see whether they can do it for you.

I have the card and the 'Charter Cardmember' designation rather than the 'DVC Member' designation. But, I haven't called to get it taken care of. I know of a few folks that did and they were issued new cards with the 'DVC Member' designation, but they can't fit both on there. At least that's what I was told by those others folks.

Thanks all, I appreciate it. Since you can't have both on the card, I think I'll stick with Charter Cardmember. I figure if DVC Member ends up having an advantage, I can change that later, but I think it would be hard to get Charter Member back on there.

Ours have both "Cardmember Since Day 1" and "Disney Vacation Club" on them. I do remember having to imput a certain code on the application to get the DVC on them. No real benifit other than looking kewl.:earsboy:

I can't imagine any advantage to having DVC on the credit card. It's just a personal thing.

I don't know if this an advantage or not, but my wife forgot her DVC card in the car last time she was shopping in DTD. She used her Disney Visa with "DVC Member" on it and was able to get whatever the discount was for the store she was in even though she didn't have her actual DVC card...

The plan is that the admission media discounts that used to be given preference to Disney Club card holders will be some of the rewards for the Disney Card. I don't know if there will be any specific benefits for DVC members, but I doubt they would have had a special DVC version of the card if they weren't planning on adding some DVC perks to card holders in the future. Maybe this is one of our ways of getting better AP prices!:smooth: Not saying it's so, just DREAMING!:)
