I saw a thread earlier about the DVC member cruise. When is it this year? Is it sold out? Do they waitlist cruises? Who do you call to reserve/book a cruise with DVC points? We should get our membership number on Friday.

In your opinion, why would you choose the member cruise over a regular Disney cruise? I've been looking at cruises for 2009 or 2010.

Thanks.

How many points is the DVC member cruise for the lowest (cheapest) category room? (per adult based on double occupancy)

Cats 11 & 12 are 116 points per person. Remember that for a cruise this includes your meals (except those in Palo) and entertainment. This does not include insurance or transfers.

What great information Mary! When will the bookings start for the 09 cruise and if I do not have any points left can we pay by cash?

note the points that Mary gave are for the 2008 cruise.
DVC has not announced a 2009 member cruise yet.

Yes you can pay all cash, all points or mix cash and points.

Cheryl is correct - that price is for the 2008 cruise. The 2009 one hasn't been announced yet but they usually announce it around the time (or during the latest cruise).

You can pay with cash as well as points but since it is a charter you must pay in full (instead of just a down payment with a regular cruise booked through DCL). I believe this is also the case if you book a regular cruise with points/cash through DVC but don't know that for sure.

Also for the past couple of DVC Member Cruises the booking fee was waived for the initial booking (but needs to be paid if changes are made). Also the past three DVC cruises have included tips as part of the fee which is not the case for regular cruises.

Another Question:

When you book a cruise, do you lose your points if you have to change? Are the rules different than those at WDW?

Thanks!

it depends on when you cancel. The points do change so that you would not be able to use them at DVC resorts but the Disney collection ( such as Polynesian, Disneyland - Disney cruiseline )
