Hi Everyone -

Just wanted to get some advice...

DH and I are celebrating our 15th anniversary on August 28th. This is the debarkation day for the DVC member cruise, and we have it booked on cash. For our deck level and cabin choice, the 4 day cruise on the Dream for the 2 of us was $3000 and we have already paid for it. (I know there are cheaper cabins, but we REALLY like this cabin - we have sailed on it before.)

However, in scoping out options, I found that a 3 day cruise on the Dream leaves on 8/28 (our anniversary) and for the exact same cabin it is $1700.

Of course there are other considerations (hubby has to take more vacation time off for the DVC member cruise vs. the 3 day cruise, etc.) Also, the DVC member cruise doesn't always "work" in our plans (with people to watch the kids, etc.) but this year it does. So we have it booked, we can go - the stars seemed to be aligned, but I'm thinking - is it really worth $1300 more $ for one extra day?

My parents went on the DVC member cruise in September and gave us much of their "loot" so I am aware of the gifts, surprises, etc.

I just wanted to get general opinion here - I know DCL cruises are generally more expensive, and we are used to that - but $1300 extra for 1 day is tough for me. We just booked the 7 day Alaska, and I'm thinking I could use the difference towards our Alaskan family trip... because after all, the 3 day will be special by itself because it will be the first cruise with my husband and me without kids!!! We wouldn't get off the ship at Nassau, we would stay in the forward area and pretty much hang at the spa and adult area the entire time and do wine/alcohol tastings. We have seen the shows - we would pretty much be doing adult only things 100% of the time.

Just wanted to get opinions and advice from some who may have done the DCL member cruise, or others - Would you do it?

TIA!

If it were me I would downgrade and take the extra money either for my Alaska cruise or for a better room category this trip (maybe even concierge since its your anniversary.) But that's just my opinion.

I am partial to Member Cruises because I have thoroughly enjoyed the special guests and commeraderie aboard. The one this August will be my 3rd.

Also I greatly prefer a 4 night cruise over a 3 night one.

I understand the price consideration. Good luck to you as you choose!
