DVC Member Cruise ~ August 24, 2015

Well, I've been MIA for a short time, I was preparing to take the NCLEX so my online time was very limited. Thankfully, that is done and I am now an RN!!! Now the job search begins. Hope everyone is doing well. Trying to figure out the changes here.

Lynn, how was your first week?

PJ - A big CONGRAT! Good Luck with the job hunt! I hope it goes well and very quick! It must be a huge blessing to be all done and accomplished your goal!

My first week went very well! I think I am going to like it! Yeah! The people (all 4 of them) are very nice. The owner let me change my hours - so I start at 7AM and I get off at 3PM. I am learning a new software (really 3 of them) so I will feel better once I know them better. Over all I think it went really well.
Southwest moved up their release date now to 02/19! I hope the airfare is Cheap! I am still wanting to get airfare.
Guess What??????? My DH is going to California for training and he is going to be 4 miles from DISNEYLAND! OMG - I so want to go! I spent a couple of hours trying to find a hotel room for a long week-end (yeah right - during spring break) - can't find hardly anything for under $500 a night. I wish I could stay in his - but it will be full of the other guys going for training. I have never been and so want to go! I just know he will go over there ( I would if I was that close). Lucky duck! I guess I will just have to live thru him = maybe some day I can plan a trip out there.
Have you ever been?
Off to work on my taxes. Enjoying my 60 degree weather today - after snow we had two days ago!
Lynn

Lynn, I am so happy to hear about your job. We are having a beautiful day too, but I am reading by the fire. I enjoy books by Jan Karon, and got this 500+ page book out yesterday and need to read it by Tuesday....we leave for Cape May on Wednesday!

We went to DL in May, after the WBPC cruise. We also went to Joshua Tree and Deth Valley NP. Your time will come! We are retired!

Is anyone interested in a postcard exchange? We would send post cards from our area to everyone participating.

Thank you Lynn. A very big weight has been lifted, getting through this. Working on the resume right now. My current manager (I'm a tech at our local hospital) is trying to get a position open for me, but it's only part time. I really need a full time job so hubby can give up his part time job.

pixiedust: Sure hope you get what you need.

We moved to Ohio and I only had PT for all the years. Thankfully it has worked out, but my retirement fund from the PT employment is merger.

I just finished reading all the posts...took me awhile, lol! We just signed on today for the Member Cruise!!!! It will be me, my husband, and our 10-year-old granddaughter, Lauren. She asked us this morning if she could become a Gold Castaway Member, a sly way of asking to go on another cruise! So we checked availability, and we are in!! This will be my and my husband's 5th Member cruise, and Lauren's 3rd.

We met Bobbi before the cruise last summer at TOTW and watched the fireworks with her. We had a great time that night. A lot of Disboarders showed up.

Bobbi, it will be nice to see you again, and will you add us to the Candy Exchange?

Since you seem to be the only two on the DIS chatting - I thought I would share my joy -
I Booked Airfare Today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah! SW came out with their schedule for our dates this morning. I used some of our SW points for the trip down and paid cash for the trip back! Wish I would have had more points! This way it was about the same price as driving! So I won the on going discussion on fly versus drive!!!! So excited! Worth getting up at 4:30 AM! I got some really good times on the flights - get into Orlando at 9:00 AM - Now I am second guessing if I should leave on Fri instead of Sat. What do you think? Add an extra day? I can go either way - I can book a room at Bay Lake or Jambo - pain to change rooms for one night - but I am willing - David - not so much. Would get into Orlando at 12:35 PM. No cost to change flights. If we stayed at Jambo - no big deal to change rooms. Let me know what you think.
So cold here today - 8 - with wind chills below zero - chance for more snow tonight and this week-end! I am so ready for winter to be over. They said chance for hard freeze in Florida! I think everyone has had enough - especially the people up North.
How are you doing? Hope you are keeping warm.
We went over all the dining last night - We make our ADRs on Mon. Going to try the California Grill - Have not been there since they remodeled and changed their Chef. We are trying Yatchman Steakhouse - Have you ate there? I have not - but it sounds very yummy! Otherwise it is old favs - Via Napoli / Sanaa / San Angel Inn - maybe one more. Of course I will have to pop in to the Earl of Sandwich - I just love them! Wish we had one here! I should open one!

PJ - How is the job hunting going? I myself Hate looking for a job. Hope you are having a bunch of luck!

Hope you have a great day! Try and Stay Warm!

Hi!! I am so happy for you, Lynn, you wanted to fly, and now it is happening! We will be driving from Cape May NJ for the MC. We have a few nights booked at VB, then a few nights at VWL and 1 night at Jambo afterwards. We are hoping our house in Ohio is sold by then and we may use the time to look for a house in FL, or maybe by that time we will have found one and perhaps will be closing on a house in FL.

I have already mentioned this, but in April, I will have both knees replaced. I have found a doctor who has given me encouragement to have it done. I will live in NJ while I heal, and although I will miss my Ohio friends, I am a Jersey girl by birth and my heart sings when we are approaching Cape May via the Garden State Parkway. My mom is 95, in a nursing home in Cape May, and it is a pleasure to be there so we can visit her. Our Ohio house has lots of steps, we are so ready to sell it and get on with our lives as snowbirds, NJ in summer, FL in winter! My sister Nancy is also in NJ, another plus! She has a shore home 2 doors away from ours in Cape May.

As far as your coming down for an extra day. I think I would, because you have concierge, don't you? You can actually check in and go for breakfast the first morning you are there, so I would pick Jambo for the night.

Maybe we can book Via Napoli together? We have not eaten at Yatchsman but I know DH wants to! Am considering The Wave for the nights before we board the cruise, because I definitely want to go to TOTW to meet with other Disboard DVC cruisers!

Very cold here. Had I mentioned here we booked a Fantasy cruise beginning this Saturday? One person on that cruise thread is in Orlando already, and reports that it is cold and windy in Orlando today.

I want to do as much as I can before the knee replacements! We also booked a 4 night stay to see Epcot's F&G show.

Hey Bobbi
Great Advise! I booked a Studio at Jambo and changed the flights to leave on Fri! Get into Orlando at 12:35 PM. I have a waitlist for concierge - doubt it will come in - but you never know! I really wanted to stay at Bay Lake for Fri - but they didn't have any Studios open - so I waitlisted one of them. Maybe that will come in!
I was planning on doing Via Napoli on Sun 08/23 for lunch - around 11:30 or High Noon - Would you care to join us? Please let me know and I will book the ADR for 4. I LOVE Via Napoli - Love the pizza! I always eat at least once maybe twice. Now I have to pick a place for dinner on Friday! Artist Point will be my vote - we were going to eat there and removed it for Yatchsman Steak House - so I can add it back! Their Salmon is very good!
Cruise on Sat - Good for you! I hope the weather improves - Too cold right now! I love the F&G show - even more now that they offer some food items!
Both knees at the same time? Who is going to be taking care of you? What are you going to do? I had neck surgery and was so bored because I could not do anything = couldn't read - just sit and watch TV. Longest 8 weeks! At least you will be able to read! I love reading. I hope it goes really well for you! I know it will help you so much!

Did you get good times? I thought the choices on SW were really good - the prices could have been better - but the days of cheap airfare seem to be long gone for my area! Hope you got what you wanted for a decent price. Per my previous post - I changed my flight to arrive on Fri instead of Sat. We both had taken off Fri in case we were going to drive (yeah right) so I convinced him to go a day earlier! It is so nice that SW does not charge to change your flights! I think they are the only airline that doesn't charge.
Lynn

Lynn, thank you, yes, Tom & I would like to join you at Via Napoli on the 23rd, either 11:30 or noon would be fine! I will PM Tom's cell number.

Because both knees will be done at once, 1-2 weeks of rehab is required. They will teach me how to do everything. I have severe arthritis in both knees and doing one would not be beneficial since the " new" knee would not have support of the other. I can live in CM without doing any steps at all, but there is a second floor, and eventually I want to have my own space up there. Steps, even 1 is a challenge for me right now.

Lynn,

We had a lot of choices which is good. I debated between the super early (6am) or early (8ish). Right now we are booked on the 8something flight. If we decide to get park tickets, I might change to the earlier one so we can get a full park day in. We'll see.

I do love that SW doesn't change for flight changes and two free bags per person (good for bringing home all the goodies)!!!

Bobbi,

I work on a rehab unit and see a lot of men do both knees, not many women. It's doable. Most men do it cause the pain is so bad they would never do the other (each one has said that). That being said, I think as women we handle pain so much better. I'll be praying for your recovery.
