DVC Member benefits?

Hi everyone! Heading down to the World in about a month We are going and staying with a friend who is a DVC member. He mentioned that DVC members get special add ons to their magic bands and access to a special bar at The Contemporary. My boyfriend and I may wander off on our own while we are there so if we are not with our DVC member friend do we still get whatever benefits apply? I'm not trying to cause problems and cheat the system, I'm just simply curious and don't want to run in to any problems! Thanks guys.

To use the ToTWL (at BLT), you have to be a DVC member. I think they ask for your DVC membership card, and won't let you upstairs if you don't have one. I believe your friend can take you up as a guest though.

Other benefits are given only to the DVC members, such as discounts etc.

in order to use the specie room at the contemporary you have to be a DVC member but your friend can take ( I think up to 2 ) with them ( I went with my friends and it was great I would go if you can. not sure about the magic bands them self I know they get sliders like AP get but they do not get you anything they may also get a discount on things like AP visa people get but they would have to pay for things to get that. I think as long as your friends are ok with you wondering off then why not but they are paying for you to stay with them so why not hang out with them unless they want to do something by them selfs or have reservation that you do not have. you can always meet up latter in the day

For TOTWL and any member discounts, the actual DVC member has to be present, membership card in hand, and show ID.

We're trying out new Poly DVC this trip and are excited! But I think seeing the other monorail ones would be cool as well.

We had friends staying at BLT on our points last year and they went up without us. I believe you do not have to be a member if you are staying there on points.

do you have to be staying at BLT to use it....i used it once when i stayed there but will stay at poly next visit

It's only open in the evening, I believe 6:00pm to 11:00 or 12:00.

Except for July 3 & 4 and December 30 & 31, you can be staying at any WDW resort. On the blackout dates, only members staying at BLT.

They are supposed to ask to see the DVC member card.

On our engagement trip most places allowed me to show my cad and I'd and let my fiance pay if it was something she was buying
But our last day there was one shop where we didn't have our just engaged buttons on and they said only the member so I had to pull the cash out and pay to get the dscount
