DVC member and cruising

We are booked on a Disney cruise in April. I called tonight to ask some questions about making excursion reservations (it seems I can't count and was trying to make them two days to soon ). While she had my reservation up on her computer, I asked it it was noted that we are DVC members. I had read on here that DVC members get "gifts" even if they didn't book with points. She said no and they would only know that if the cruise had been booked with points.

So should I call back or can, if I wish, get the "gift" once on board from the DVC rep?

To my knowledge, the only "gifts" are those for Castaway Club members - those people who are returning cruisers whether booked on points or cash.

DVC members do have an invitation to attend a reception usually on board, where they will give out hats, pins, etc. Once you are on board, you can check with Guest Services to make sure they have you listed as a member so that they will drop an invitation off to you stateroom at the appropriate time.

We just did DCL this past September, paid cash, not points. We didn't tell anyone we were DVC members, but they had one of those door decorations on ours "Welcome Home DVC Member" thingies. Plus some things that I didn't think were CC member gifts and the DVC invites to various goings on.

We booked on points and we did get some gifts. We got the DVC Welcome Home on the door, some lanyards, a photo book and some other special invites. I would definately let them know upon boarding if you do not see a DVC Welccome sign on your door.

We are going on our first cruise in a week - paying cash - and I was told the same thing when I called Disney. Hopefully I can let Guest Services know I am DVC and be included.

Honestly, the things they give you are really nothing to get too excited about, don't expect too much!
