to each their own...I don't mind wasting 45 mins if it gives me an opportunity to win $200. Odds are pretty good. Most i've had were 8 people at a presentation out of the 4 cruises

8 people? ?!?!?!?!?!?

We've been on 3 cruises and gone to the first meeting each cruise. The first one in 2012 there was probably 50 or so in Evolution. The second time on the fantasy in 2014,the tube was at least half full - felt like a lot of people.

The last cruise this past may on the fantasy, the meeting was in the D Lounge and the crowd was spilling out the door - people arriving after the start couldn't even get in. I would guess there was over 200 people there, easy.

Maybe we should wait and go a different day.

yep...but the cruises I've been on it's only been 4 nighters and they've done the presentations on port days.

We have only been on a single DCL cruise since we joined DVC. The Halloween Dream sailing we went on the DVC Meet and Greet was standing room only. Every table was at least half full and there were a dozen or more people standing around in the back of the room. I suspect that our Christmas Dream sailing will be the same but we will still go to the party. It's fun watching the propaganda as we have already drank the DVC kool-aid. We got the mugs (which I think we already tossed) and later in the cruise the teal DVC hats (that didn't even make it off the ship with us).

I think there might be a bit of a confusion as to what kind of DVC meetings people talk about as there are two different types:

1) the Members Celebration. This is usually held on the first day or the second day of the cruise and is for current DVC members.

2) the DVC Presentation. This is often held multiple times during a cruise and is nothing else than a sales event. While current members are free to come to this, it is more aimed at non-members, trying to sell them DVC.

Both of these events usually give out gifts to the people attending and drinks are available.

Off the Fantasy recently, at the pre-cruise get together they gave out the plastic drink cup with lid as members entered. A few prizes were given out such as DVC branded USB sticks (got one!) but nothing spectacular. I thought it was just ok... the game they played (guess the song) was pretty fun, and like someone else said the sales pitch part of the show wasn't too forceful. I recommend popping past the DVC counter every evening to see what goodies they have - on the first night we received a card in our room which allowed us to claim a hat each (the blue one) and on both port days they had a light-up wristband and a plastic cup holder for use on the beach... both pretty tacky but hey, it's free! They ran out of lanyards on embarkation day, which seemed a bit strange.

We had friends on our cruise and they wanted to go to a presentation, IIRC it was the 2nd presentation of the cruise. They got better freebies than the members! Then again I guess that's the whole point, to suck people in we ended up getting a small carry bag/backpack kind of thing and a Mickey pin each. One thing that did annoy me - and I apologise if I sound selfish for this - but at the presentations they also gave out the blue magnets, the one with the ship's wheel and "Welcome Home" and "Member" written on it. I don't think it's fair giving out "member"-branded items to non-members... but hey what can you do

It was the "Tervis" and hat on the Dream. Don't think I'll be going to that again, though. There were at least 80 people in mine and it really didn't make sense to watch videos about how great the DVC is when I already have one.
