DVC Lost Luster, Badly Broken

You know, although many seem to not believe the original poster, I think it is just not right to act like they are trolling or lying or expanding on the condition of the room.
People should not feel if they have a complaint they shouldn't post for fear of being attacked. It's great that for the most part everyone had had great experiences and their room was perfect, but that doesn't mean if someone has a bad experience they are making it all up.

I totally agree with you. Being called a troll is a nasty thing to say.. being attacked is not great either. I will never post anything bad on here again. Members are rude, they just dont want to believe that something could be wrong with disney. Sometimes the trips are not all that nice. But its life. Of course just because you have one bad trip you are not going to boycott disney. I myself want issues to be fixed for the next time I go. I want it to be enjoyable. I had a bad trip and you all called me a troll too, but hey look guys I am still around!! And going to disney in june.

I would like to believe everything I read on the Disboards, but I'm not that naive. I want to believe the OP, but their account of the room and resort condition and really the whole situation doesn't seem true. I'm not calling them or anyone a troll, just saying the whole situation sounds grossly exaggerated and holds very little weight with me. After spending time on these boards, I have learned that people have strong feelings about particular resorts (especially DVC owners) and don't like when people post negative things about their resorts in a way that seems like they are bashing it. I'm glad people post negative reviews on here because it allows us to see both sides of things. But if you had a bad experience, or a bad room, if possible please take photos to accompany your description of the experience to send to DVC and also to accompany an unbelieveable description like the OP's.

OK, I'm going to stick my neck out here - what exactly is trolling?

A long standing traditional form of entertainment on the Internet (probably from long before most of you were on the Internet) whereby you post a message in a group in which the sole purpose of the message is to get the constituents riled up.

It is more effective when the the group consists of "enthusiastic" fans.

Come on, people! Let's not call someone a troll just because he/she posted a negative room report and didn't take pictures to "prove it". FWIW, I do NOT think the OP is a troll.

Those of you who truly believe he/she is a troll should just not post to the thread. Everytime you do, the thread goes to the top of the page and gets more attention - exactly what a troll wants.

Ok, this will be my last post to this thread, but I felt in all fairness I needed to pass this on. I have come to realize that when you click on the OP's name and choose "find all posts" that you are returned posts from a different poster named "Debbie" and not "Debbie & Bill". This other poster "Debbie" posts mostly about POP and ALL STARS. I think this has contributed to the skepticism of some (me). Anyway I have PM'd CarolMN and asked her to inform the appropriate techs.

I am done... Tootles.

Now you are ascribing maliciousness to what can be attributed to a bug.

The "Find all posts by..." feature does not like the space and the ampersand in the name. Same thing happens when you search on "Deb & Bill" - you get a single post from a "Deb" in 2001. Just sloppy programming.

Heck, the "Find all posts by..." feature didn't work at ALL for the longest time...

I was at BWV for Easter week and can personally verify that they were cleaning all the carpets then( I saw them on the 4th floor, Lobby and lower level)...I will agree that carpeting is VERY difficult to keep looking clean and new-and the carpeting they have at the BWV is not cheap. Personally if anyone has a problem with a room they should do something about it asap. That said-we had 3 studios Easter week and all were in fantadtic shape(except for the cell phone I found wedged in my parents sofa bed with rude language and pic on it-I turned the phone in to front desk and they even apologized).

Hmm, I just stayed at BWV (Room #3005) last weekend, and the room was immaculate and there weren't any maintenance issues.

Ditto. Stayed the first week of April (Room #3083?) and found everything to be as it should, save for a couple minor imperfections... which is understandable. Very nice stay, as usual.

The supposed comments of the management of DVC lacking money for repairs is what I find unbeleivable in the whole complaint. As owners of whatever resort you own (OKW here), a yearly statement of income and expenses is sent to everyone. As an example the OKW operating budget for 2008 is $24,383,448.00 out of which $6,002,942.00 for housekeeping and $3,434,047.00 for mainteance issues. There is also a capital reserve fund of $19,881,021.00 for scheduled refurbishments. This does not appear to be a lack of funds as the OP claims was told to them.

I am not sure what you're saying... I hope that means you're not going to change your plans because of a thread started by a poster that has almost never posted here.

No, not at all. When I first read the original post I thought it was written by another poster who contributes often here on the boards. I highly regard her opinion and thought that if she is "knocking" BWV then something must really be going on there. She herself later posted that she is NOT the op just to clear up any confusion for everyone. I do trust the opinions of many on the Dis but not those I don't know or those who are known to have a habit of slamming certain resorts.

Boy I just read this thread again. I posted a comment I think on page two. Don't know what all the stink is about. I took the OP's comments like I do most others, as just their opinion. I know I once had on a couple of hundred post and I think we all did at one time or another didn't we??. I had opinions I wanted to express then just as I do now...smjj

I agree 100% with this. I took the OP's post at face value. My thought was "what a bummer that they had a bad trip". Their opinion may not be the same as my opinion but that does not mean that they did something wrong.

All of us started at zero with our post count! And I guess that I am truly naive but.....who really has the time to post "fake" stuff just to start a fight and who has the time to worry about that post? :confused3

More people than you want to believe and it's not something that is exclusive to DVC/WDW/DIS boards :sad2:

I post on boards with totally different subjects, and it's funny to see people who are banned come back with different screen names and see how long it takes everyone to figure out that it's "so and so".

You wouldn't be trolling would you? Sorry, just beyond my belief as described.

Not to get off of the subject, I too have found the Boardwalk and Beach Club w/ rooms that had a few minor issues but no where in any of my DVC stays have I encountered anything like the op. My question however is, What is meant by trolling? I've seen it on other posts and I don't get it.

Note: I took it at face value because I thought it was from Deb & Bill, interesting!

I find it funny that folks are blasting the OP for not taking pictures of the damage. Personally, I've always thought it a bit weird when folks spend vacation time seeking out and taking pictures of room problems.

There was an infamous Vegas TripAdvisor report where somebody discovered a french fry behind their dresser. And took a picture of it. Then took a picture of it the next day. And the next. And the next. They took five pictures to document to the world that housekeeping wasn't cleaning property. Who does this? Just pick up the darn fry and be done with it. That's got to be better than living with rotting food in your room and spending the time to chronicle it…

I don't really care if the OP is trolling or not. We just go on what we see at BWV when we're there. We've never had a less than great room - or a less than great stay.

If we ever get a clunker of a villa (I'm not planning on it) - I'll post it here. And you'll know I'm not trolling.

Agreed, it would never occur to me to take pictures of a room - sometimes it doesn't occur to me to take pictures of the kid's Christmas morning. And certainly, I have never felt a need myself to "prove" anything about my experiences to you guys through documentation.

Well said Crisi!

I find a few things a little "hinky" with the OP post;
1. no exact dates of visit.
2. no room number.
3. Hasn't posted again to defend or offer more information.

I was there last week for business and actually thought the BWV looked to be in great shape. As a BWV owner of almost ten years, I have seen minor things that need attention but it is the kind of things that can happen anywhere. Rooms get constant use and abuse by guests.

Sounds like the OP is just out to cause problems.
