DVC Interval Exchange Rate

DVC has a flat rate exchange for the World Passport Collection and this year added partial weeks.

These are the DVC points required for each room category thru the World Passport Collection.

Studio - 106 Low - 123 Mid - 134 High
1 BR - 124 Low - 144 Mid - 160 High
2 BR - 207 Low - 252 Mid - 270 High
3 BR - 276 Low - 317 Mid - 349 High

The Low/Med/High distinction is not determined by DVC, it is based on each resort. I do not have a point chart for the partial weeks. The numbers above are for a full 7 night stay.

Okay, just so I understand, 200 DVC points (held at any Disney home resort) would more than cover any 1 BR regardless of season for a 7-night stay?

Correct, a 7 nights stay would not be higher than 160 points for a 1 BR.

I assume that II could change the rate over time? Or is the exchange rate set forever?

Yes the rate can change. I've been a member since 2005 and I haven't seen any change, maybe someone who's been a member longer can comment how often it's changed.

Just to add to this it is really not any II but any II Disney allows the trade to happen with. DVC allows a subset of II resorts to trade with it is not a fully open "u pick" resort list.

Oh, I see. Is there any public list of those available for trade?

Also, what is the exchange rate for Disney cruises?

Since the current system has been in place, the rates have not changed that I recall. However, the system itself has changed a number of times over the years. The current system with a set number of points is fairly new on the scene. The following are the versions I recall over the years in order of occurrence.

  • When with RCI, pick a week and deposit it.
  • Initially with II, one had to give up a comparable week at their home resort.
  • Later with II it became a comparable week at any DVC resort but subject to the 11/7 mo reservation priority.
  • Now the current system with set points based on unit size and exchange season.
IMO, the one previous to now was the most advantageous to members overall though the current one is best for 1 BR options. The biggest negative to the current version compared to the previous one is in regards to studios and 3 BR units. Certainly the current system is easier for many to understand even if not the best overall. The exchange rates reflect that simplicity IMO.
