DVC in October

Since the time was originally expanded due to popularity and increased demand, I'm sure they will continue the pattern - especailly if the extra time continues to help increase park attendance and resort bookings.

Best wishes -

I'm both extremely excited about that, and a little worried. We best make our ressies as soon as our points mature...or learn to bank some serious pts...

It was a shot in the dark trying to get something for October 8 to October 11 or October 22 to 25, everything is totally booked. I wanted to see either Alan Wong or Paula Deen. I have never been to the Food and Wine Festival, how much fun is it and how crowded? In talking to MS, it is the luck of the draw as to who the chefs are and when they will be there, since ressies need to be made way before this is announced. I was thinking for 2005, we are taking friends in August and then going again either to the Food and Wine Festival or in December to see the Christmas decorations, which one would you pick, thanks? This October we will end up in the Outer Banks, another favorite place!

Just FYI - I JUST cancelled a 2bdrm villa at the BCV about 45 minutes ago. It was reserved for 10/23-10/30. Hope someone can jump on it!

Five or so years ago, the F&W Fest was the best kept secret around. But now the cat is out of the bag and it is very popular. Post 9/11 when the Disney attendance was way off, the evening closings at all of the parks except Epcot really packed people into the World Showcase, and it can get really crowded.

Nonetheless, we keep going back, crowds or not. Grazing your way around the World Showcase is a ball!

don't go in August - do BOTH!!!

love WDW when the Christmas decorations are up and MVMCP has started. not to mention the Candlelight Procession all the Christmas stuff in every WDW resorts, park, shop and DD.

the food and wine festavial is pretty nice too - especially if you get an Epcot resort - so you only have to walk back to your room.

the problem is that the food and wine festavial entertainment is not announced until July? most of the time is not announced until Sept....they have to get the contracts back and signed before they can announce anything - so the Candlelight Procession has the same problem.

this is a fun place to be!

Spiceycat, that is a great idea! Unfortunately, I am already committed to bringing friends with us in August and I could never back out on them. They do not take their kids out of school for trips, so it looks like August and then either October or December. Whichever I do not get to do, I will do the following year.

I'd vote for December...the points are lower and the Christmas decorations are spectacular!

Does anyone know when Paula Dean will be at F&W? We had booked VWL from 10/1 - 10/7 because of F&W but now that I hear Paula Dean will be there it would be great to know she is there during that window. My wife is a big fan.

I get to do both this year!

BTW, I got our studio at BCV at the 7 month window. I think everything was available at that point except standard view at BWV.

Here's an update:

The waitlist for 11/6 - 11/9 came through after only 2 days!! We had a choice of either VWL or SSR. We chose SSR only because it's the only DVC resort we've never stayed at.

I'm surprised at how quickly we got what we wanted. If any of you are considering going at this time and can't get a reservation, get on the waitlist. Obviously, it worked for us .... and fast!

Called yesterday for studio or 1 bedroom, 3 nights Oct 21-23, any DVC resort. Only availability was studio Oct 22-23 at OKW and SSR. Went with OKW and waitlist for Oct 21. Looking forward to first time at OKW and the F&W Festival!

We're staying Sep 26 - Oct 1, which we booked at 11 months.

I'm curious. Is it as difficult to book in the summer? Or is it just a point saving/F&W Festival phenomena?
