My friend just checked with Member services for November and we wanted Nov 12-17th and nothing is available in BWV, BCV or WL (WL comes available on the 14th). I guess I am confused since I was told that this is a really slow week at Disney. It is the full week Before the week of Thanksgiving. Do you think I should try for a waitlist or just book at SSR or OKW. Do you think the waitlist will come through for that week?

I have never stayed at OKW and kinda want to know if it is worth using my friends points. It seems like it is the same as a moderate, bigger accomodations but no "location". This is a trip for my sister and her family and I really wanted us to stay at one of the "location" ones. What do you think we should do?? Tell me we will love OKW or SSR!

Should we do a paid reservation for someother place and then Switch to WL? Help!

Slow week for Disney World doesn't mean slow for DVC. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that is the last week of the Food & Wine Fest at Epcot. If so, the Epcot resorts fill really fast. You are well within the 7 month window so unlikely to get ressies at either of those.

If it were me, I would take a reservation at OKW or SSR and waitlist for one of the others. Sometimes ALL the DVC properties fill up during Food & Wine as the Epcot resorts fill and people take the others as alternatives. You don't want to get shut out.

Cmbar, wow, you called OKW "the same as a moderate" almost 4 hours ago and no one's come on to blast you yet! There are some people here who are VERY passionate about their resort, and I've seen responses like "them's fightin' words". We love OKW-I much prefer the balconies there to any resort.
And Gurgling Suitcase is so friendly. However, if you want "location" (walking distance to Epcot), I'd agree with the previous poster to take OKW and waitlist for an Epcot resort. You can waitlist for more than one if you want. Good luck!

Oh No! I definitely did not want to insult anyone! I honestly don't know enough about OKW to compare. I really just meant "location wise". Of Course OKW would be roomier than a moderate!!

So sorry if I offended any owners! Maybe that is why I didn't get many responses :confused3

Thank you both for your advice. I think we will book WL for the bulk of our stay and hope to get waitlisted for the first two days of our trip. Could we stay as a paying guest?

I think the food and wine ends Columbus Day weekend......Also there is the MGM soap opra star the weekend of the 11 and 12th. I am kind of surprised there is no availabilty starting the weekend of the 12th.

The Food & Wine Festival runs 9/29 - 11/12/06. I think you're running into a time quite a few of us like to travel to WDW. The weather is usually nicer, not quite as hot and humid.

Actually that's an idea! You might have your friend check to see if there is any availability for a cash ressie at VWL for your first couple of nights. Sometimes cash ressies are available even though the points ressies are all booked. If you could do that, the ressies can be linked, too. It's worth a shot.

It also might be more convienient to get a room at WL for the first 2 nights and then move to the villa at VWL rather than splitting between 2 DVC locations. It really just depends on what you are most comfortable doing.
