While we were at WDW last month, we went into the DVC sample condo; I think it was over at the Boardwalk. Anyway, we said we wanted to see it, but weren't interested, because we lived in CA. The sales rep said that Disney is currently assembling a sales force to go to CA in the new year. He wasn't sure why.....whether it was to sell DVC from WDW at Disneyland, or if they would be starting DVC at Disneyland.

Anybody know anything??

Hi, It is just to sell DVC.I think that is what I have read here.I may be wrong.

Hi from another Californian. They already are selling DVC at Disneyland Resort. They don't have a DVC resort at Disneyland, but all three of the Disneyland Resort Hotels are available through DVC. Even us CA fans can get plenty of benefits from DVC. If you would like more info or a referal to get the 15% discount on DVC just send me a PM.

The rumor I heard from the DVC folks in California is that there is a Disneyland DVC resort in the works, but it was several years away.

A California DVC would be so useful for west coast folks who want Disney, but don't want to take that long flight twice a year. I think they could make good $$ on it and that it would be well used . . . we would certainly use it often!

The runor is that a DVC in CA is stymied by the fact that California law requires a timeshare to be perpetual (not a limitedlease like DVC).

It seems they have been doing well with DVC out there though, so I'm sure they will think of more and more things for west coast DVC'ers. Eliminating the $75 booking fee for DL hotels would be nice!

It costs $75 on top of our points to book at DL?

There was no $75 booking fee added on to our stay at Paradise Pier last March.

There are NO booking fees to stay at the DL hotels thru DVC!!! Only Cruises, II and other areas..In fact, i just book to stay there for next month and there are no charges. BUT, once you booked and transfered the points to DL hotels and you cancel, you cannot use those points for the 7 DVC hotels. You can only use them for DL, Cruises, I.I. in that used year. So be very careful planning.

We live in CA and we've been members for years. If you go to Disney regularly, and think you will continue to do so, then DVC is for us Californians too. ::yes:: My hope is that it's just a matter of time before the Grand Californian Villas are announced.

OK, there is no DL fee now? I thought there was when we looked at for out 2005 trip! Well, that's good news (that it's removed) or bad news (that I hallucinated it!)

Grand Californian Villas would do fantastic business, IMHO. Because, again, I think we would go there every year that we couldn't make it all the way out to Florida (didn't feel like making the long flight, etc)

DVC in California - Well, as a family of Californian's we finally hedged our bet that DVC will be coming to California at some point. We bought into Saratoga with the intention of doing additional add on once the need arises. We just can't see Disney not jumping on the California train at some point. Especially after how sucessful their sales have been in California.

Our guide Doug did not give away any information other than to guess that the 2 older properties at Disneyland, The Paradise Pier and The Disneyland Hotel could be very suitable for a future DVC. We mentioned the rumors of the old Strawberry Field acrosee the street from Disneyland that Disney now own's and Doug had no reaction.

I guess you can add us to the list of many west coasters who are still "California Dreaming"

Definitely, like the prestigious membership cards embossed with your name and, um...there's also the...uh...

No, wait, I got it; Let's see, there's those cards - I mentioned that - and also...the...hmm...

That's weird, I'm drawing a blank.

I ran into a friend of mine at DL a couple of weeks ago. We were talking about DVC and he said he had just been talking with an executive about a DL DVC resort. He was told that it was going to happen and a "decision" was going to be made soon on the location. It is going to be either at the Grand Californian or behind the Bonita Tower at the DL Hotel. Of course it's all just rumor at this point but I'm crossing my fingers and toes! :goodvibes

Well, I've already been proven wrong on this topic (I posted several times before AKV was officially announced that the next DVC would be at DL). BUT....I still think that there will be a CA DVC in the future. It only makes sense. And the last time we were at DL, they had the "Best Kept Secret" signs and kisoks absolutely everywhere. Yes, they were then (as they are now) selling SSR, but I have to think that they are establishing such a strong CA presence for a reason.

This would, indeed, be DVCs best option for an "off-site" property (not really off-site, but off-Florida-site). Obviously, it would be a huge draw for the CA/West Coast Disney fans, but also I think many existing DVCers would do a little CA trip if there was a DVC there.

From all of the rumors and speculation threads that have been discussed about CA, the one main theme that keeps coming up is SPACE. There just isn't enough room to build another large resort complex. Now, if they are thinking for rehabbing the GC or Pier or other existing hotel, well, that's a whole new ballgame.

And even though I have already been proven wrong on this issue, I STILL think that a CA DVC is coming soon.

California has (had) a legal issue for Disney. Timeshares are (were?) required to be perpetual. Remember, our deal with Disney is not a true ownership. We are leasing time. This, apparently, was not legal in California (hence why they sold the land they had designated). Does anyone know if this issue has been resolved?

Just waiting to buy some points at a Disneyland DVC; and waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting... :bored:

Truthfully I don't believe that was ever the case. I think that was a rumor started on these boards by some trying to rationalize what happened. I sincerely doubt DVC would have gotten to the point of buying land and announcing the resort without being certain on this issue. Plus I've never heard on any other timeshare sites where this was an issue with CA.

I thought I saw an actual link to the law years ago...but then again my memory ain't what it used to be. You may be correct.
