Just returned from BWV where I used the valet every day. On the 4th day, the person at the desk (I would not call him a gentleman after the way he spoke to me) asked for my Vacation Club ID card. I showed him it said "DVC Member" on the room key. He told me I needed my Vacation Club ID card for free valet parking. We were there for 6 days and he's the only one who requested it. Was he correct and all the others wrong???

Here is the policy extract: States clearly either DVC card or Resort ID with Member designation - this is right out of the Member Perks on the website

Valet Parking at the Walt Disney World® Resort
Disney Vacation Club Members are not charged for valet parking at Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Resort or Disney's Wilderness Lodge, regardless of where you're staying. You must present your Disney Vacation Club Member card or Walt Disney World Resort ID with your "DVC Member" designation on it when leaving your vehicle to be parked.

Members will be charged the daily fee of $6.00 for this service at any other valet parking operation at the Walt Disney World Resort. Once you've paid for the valet service, you'll receive unlimited valet parking for the remainder of the day. Whether or not you are charged to valet park, gratuities are still appropriate. There will be no charge for guests with disabilities who have the proper permits.

thanks

If you were staying in a room rented from a member your key might say "DVC Member" but you would not really be a DVC member. So the rude guy was probably correct to ask for your card. The manner in which he did so is another matter!

The above is the policy, no need to have a DVC member card to use the perk

I've never been asked for my card at BWV when my parking pass said "member parking permit".

Thanks for the warning about the card; my hubby didn't have his during our December trip but luckily wasn't asked for it when leaving the car for valet parking.

If they enforce the rules:

If you are staying at a DVC, you can use your DVC Card or your Resort ID that will say DVC Member

If you are staying other than DVC, you need your DVC Card to use this perk

It would appear that you do not even have to stay at a WDW property to use this perk (not that we would stay offsite anyways)

thanks

I wonder if you have two cars...

My dad, a non member will be following us in on our trip. (I have two studios booked.) Will my DVC membership card cover valet for both of us?

OK...I uae valet parking all the time, and i have shown both at different times, and not once has a person ever actually looked at the ID...I think this guy must have been having a bad day....it happens

The year before we bought we were traveling in 2 cars and staying with DH's uncle on his points. He would always provide his information for both cars, we never had a problem valet parking. We had our "member" room keys after the first day, but noone asked to see them. Uncle is the kind of person who doesn't take no for an answer though, he tells people what it is he is doing or expects.....you know what I mean? That said, I really don't think the valets will give your dad any trouble, just explain that both cars are with you, staying on member points, and show your card.

You can 2 parking passes, no problem.

We meet up with cousins last week. They came back to BWV with us for a visit. Our car went through with the pass and I went with the cousin. I just said to the valet, I was a member (showed nothing) and there was no charge. I did walk her out so I am sure she didn't pay

We used valet at WL, BC, and BW on our last stay. Once I forgot to show that I was a DVC member, and I was charged the valet on my room. I was able to get the charge taken right off, though.

I was told by a CM from Quality Control that I will not need my blue members card when we are there. He told me my room key was good for everything! We bought a resale in October and have not recieved our members cards yet! I just called the other day to order them for the second time!

I have never been asked to show any card of any kind.

I would only add that renters are not entitled to the perk but will get it unless DVC sees fit to designate guests and renters differently. The ball is in DVC's court on this one and they've shown no interest in returning serve.
