How/when do I request something like a particular floor, or certain view? Do I call MS now or wait till I check in? :3dglasses

Both. I would request when you reserve, AND request when you check in. What's the worst that can happen? You don't get your request.

I've always limited my requests, because I think the more things you request the more chance you have to be disappointed. Also, the more specific your requests are, the less likely they are to be fulfilled.

We actually never really worry much about requests, because we use our villa to sleep in. About the only things we've really asked for have been first floor for medical reasons when Grandma accompanied us, and non-smoking for medical reasons because of DD's asthma. Non-smoking is now a non-issue (until we get a room that has been smoked in), and we've always gotten our other rare medical requests.

On arrival, I've looked at where they were assigning us and tried to improve things, but frankly have never been very successful doing that.

I think specific view and location requests would be much more important for folks who are spending large amounts of time in their villa, or who are not going to the parks at all.

We're trying to put in a request for an II exchange, and DD was told to call back at 10 days before the check-in day -- so she's going to try that (hoping for an upper floor near a pool, nothing too specific for location/building). Process may depend on how you're staying there (if on your own points, people say to make the request at the time you reserve; I've read that sometimes you can make a request when you check in early in the day, and you just may need to wait til later in the day when that becomes available -- it seems to be really variable). The online check-in reportedly only has two request options (something like "ground floor" or "near bus stop").

For our last three trips, we haven't made any requests and got great rooms. Right now, we're on the fifth floor of the BCV with a pretty good Epcot view (actually a very quiet woods/garden view).

I've stayed at BWV many times and my room was always pre-assigned. So if you wait until check-in, they may have already assigned you to somewhere else. I think it's better to have it requested in advance.

Same here.
