DVC hold times are just as bad when trying to contact a Resort

There have been lots of threads on the Member service page about hours on hold when trying to reach MS, but it is just as bad when we tried to contact our resort, using the link in MDE. We were doing a split stay and had used online check-in for our second resort, but at 6:30 pm, we had not received a text and our room number was not showing up in MDE, so we used the button to "Call resort" that was shown in MDE under our resort reservation to check on the status. We made that call as we were walking toward the exit at Animal Kingdom. We walked to the bus pickup, waited for the bus to BLT, and then rode the bus to BLT. When we arrived at BLT the call timer showed it had been over an hour since we placed the call and we were still on hold.

As I understand it, Disney no longer has direct phone numbers to any of the resorts. All calls, including those like we placed through MDE go to a central number that ends in 1000. This is another example of terrible Disney customer service. I do not know of any other Hotel provider that does not provide a direct number to the specific hotel for guests with confirmed reservations at that specific hotel.

ETA: The room was ready, so that worked out, and the CM at the front desk was great. However, given how hard DVC is pushing contactless check-in, it was frustrating to not be able to go directly to the room.

They have been using a call center for many years, Even when you call directly from the resort phone, it has been going to a call center.

But, I agree there should be something that allows you to indicate when you call that you onsite and have it redirected somewhere else.

I hope it was just the text never came and that when you got there, the room was indeed ready.

My friend and I arrive tomorrow for 3 night of a resort only trip. Hoping the texting works. I usually have bad luck when staying at BWV but going to VGF and RIV so fingers crossed!!!!
