DVC Gold Pass Redemption Post September 8th

I just wanted to post this as an FYI for people who did not activate their DVC gold pass before the new passes went on sale. Our gold vouchers were ‘upgraded’ to the sorcerer pass with photo pass rather than honor the gold pass that was purchased. Was a unpleasant surprise at GR today.

Thanks for sharing! Was this a “recovery” Gold Pass voucher that you activated? Since the photo pass is included, can you let me know the cons of receiving a Sorcerer’s Pass as opposed to a Gold Pass?

Only real difference is the block out dates. The Gold Pass didn't block out Thanksgiving, while the Sorcerer Pass does. The Gold Pass blocked out the week before & after Easter, while the Sorcerer Pass doesn't.

I will be sorry to lose the photos when our current pass expires, though. But I am glad that DVC members will still have access to a less expensive annual pass. We do not need/use the "extras" that the incredible pass includes.

I agree and many of us have the ability to be flexible in the dates we travel so can work around those block out dates!

Wait where did they say vouchers not activated would be converted to the sorcerer pass? I didn’t see anything about that because all I’ve seen is they said renewal before the date would be gold but after he sorcerer and in theory the voucher is a renewal. I saw nothing saying it had to be activated prior to that date.

I ask because I have a voucher for my pass that expired in April but won’t be down until Thanksgiving and all the reservations (hotel, plane) were all made before these passes were available.

I am curious about this too. My annual pass expiration date is 8/30 now. I renewed, maybe in June (??) so I could make park reservations. I have not been to the parks to activate it yet - next trip is in January. Since the start date for my renewal would be 8/31, will I still have the Gold Pass when it gets activated, or will it be the Sorcerer’s Pass with MM?

It doesn’t really affect me one way or the other, because none of my upcoming trips are in either pass’s blackout dates.

This is where I saw it announced. It was discussed here a lot with people actually saying they would go to WDW (who were close enough to do so) in order to have it stay Gold. If you have a Thanksgiving trip planned, you need to reach out to them, because many members have that issue, and the Sorcerer pass will be blocked out.

Yes, for this certificate. The next time you renew it won’t be included, but those that actually purchased a Gold voucher or Gold renewal certificate prior to September 8th, will have it included.

Are you going for Thanksgiving week? Because the voucher will be converted to Sorcerer for now charge, but the new block out dates will apply.

That is why anyone who did get the gold voucher needs to contact Disney about those dates, if it applies.

No the week earlier. DW would never go at that time and miss spending Thanksgiving cooking for her 17+ relatives. I would however go alone haha.
