I know there's no right or wrong answer to this question, and it all depends on the individual, but I'd like to hear from the DVC veterans and anyone else with experience in this area.

Do you think DVC makes sense for a single person? I've toyed with the idea for a while, and since I've started making somewhat regular trips to FL, I've been thinking about it more. I'm 45, I love to plan vacations, and I'm comfortable on a solo trip or with friends (sure helps to have been an only child!). I'd probably only use Studios unless I was bringing friends.

I've never seen this topic discussed, so thanks for any responses, yea or nay. If you think I'm crazy, say so... won't hurt my feelings! :)

I say go for it. And with friends - wonderful.

One of the most beautiful parts of the purchase for me, and there will be many threads on here to the contrary, is sharing DVC.

(The contrary being that many have not as great sharing stories.)

We've taken family and friends many times. Most times, not all but most, I've gotten them their own suite so maybe that's why I'm so pleased about it all. :lmao: ;) It makes me feel rich. Had some wonderful memories. And can't wait to share it more.

Also, I have taken two solo trips and would take more if I had more points.

You sound like you would love it.

And Martin,

There are more single DVCers than you'd think. They'll come on. I'm single. But I own with someone else. So not quite the same.

They'll chime in soon.

i'm a single guy and i bought a small contract to try DVC.

i only bought enough for 5 nights sun-thurs in a studio per year (or 7 nights every other year), but i do have a lot of family in FL and tend to visit disney at least every few years regardless, so DVC seemed like a good way to go...

I think that's the great thing about DVC....it appeals to everyone. There are families but some bought in when their children were older, some are grandparents, some are couples without children, some are single. It's not just families with younger children who enjoy DVC. It sounds like you'd enjoy DVC for yourself and sharing it with friends. Good luck with your decision!

I'm buying to make memories with my kids and grandkids, but if I were single, I'm pretty sure I'd still want to do things that make me grin. WDW makes me grin, whether I'm with family or friends, or sitting slap by myself! And DVC makes for a relatively reasonable way to have excellent accommodations to enjoy a place that makes me grin.

Well I am a single woman about your age and I own DVC so I must think it's a good idea LOL!

I too am single and own DVC. I bought in 2003 and added on in 2008. DVC is a great comfortable and flexible way to take vacations.
If I am alone, I get a studio. If I take a friend or relative, the studio at OKW works well too (2 queen beds).
Also, I have invited, multiple friends and family and have usually done a 2 bedroom but also have had a big group in the Grand Villa (OKW) and in a Beach Cottage (VB).
Love it.... will probably add on again:thumbsup2

I'm a single guy. I usually go down with friends. But sometimes I go alone. It's funny - I'm an only-child as well. Maybe that's why I don't mind going down there by myself sometimes. Anyway, I'm happy that I bought DVC. Before, when I went with friends, I had to stay in the accommodations they could afford half of. Now, we stay in the villa, and they just give me me money they would have spent on the room they could afford. Everyone wins. (And I have one friend who has almost no money, so I didn't ask her to give me any money for the room.)

I'm single 43 just bought at akv. my first visit was last week at ssr nice place. i use to like staying at value resort to many commandos there. it is more relax at a dvc resort plus i don't have to fork out about $2000.00 yr all at once.

I am a 34 year old woman who is single and has owned DVC since 1999. Well actually I bought into the DVC on my honeymoon, but in the divorce (2004) all I asked for was the DVC, which I got. I have used it many times and not just for going to WDW. I say if you can afford it go for it.

Good Luck

Jennifer

I think you'd enjoy it. I'm divorced and bought a few years ago to continue taking my son and his friends on a great vacation! Now that I'm kinda an empty nester, I'll make my 3rd solo trip in August (with many more to follow). I don't mind being alone (an only child too). Hope to take the grandkids one day.

I was single when I purchased 9 years ago. Three years ago I got married and reintroduced my DH to WDW (He had been once in 1983!) I have shared wonderful trips with family and friends and look forward to sharing my love of WDW with my DH family

Another single guy here (42). I bought in 06 and have gone with extended family, parents, and a third trip with friends. I haven't been by myself yet, but there will be a time when I'm ready to do that too.

DVC is for anyone who wants to go to Disney a lot!! Maybe sometime we can start a "single person" thread and start having our own grand-gatherings.

I hope this helps in your decision to buy.

Single and an owner since 2002. Have also used the points to go to Disneyland and to Disneyland Paris. Trying for Tokyo in 2010.

I'd say if being at WDW makes you happy go for it! It also sounds like you'd be in good company by the number of responses by other singles...though I wonder if DVC is the going to become they new place to meet and date?

About the same age and single. I use points to go with extended family, or to meet friends on vacation, or to go solo. I like adding a couple days to my business trips to the south with a weekend at DVC. In fact, I keep thinking of new reasons to drop by.

My first post!!

I'm a single woman a few years younger and became a member in 2003 with an add-on the next year and glad I did. I usually go on vacation with my family or another single friend I've known since high school. I don't have to worry about the majority of vacation costs and I'm guaranteed a vacation at least twice a year. To me, that's a good deal even if you're single.

I"m thinking there should be a new DIS board for DVC singles to chat and maybe plan to meet while at WDW... I think I would have liked that back in my single days.

We have a single friend your age, and belongs to DVC. He loves it, and it works great for him. He goes solo a lot, and when friends, such as us will be there.
