I could have sworn one of the benefits of DVC membership was early sign up for RunDisney races, how exactly does that work? I desperately want to do the new 1/2 and I just know it is going to fill so fast, so having an extra day would possibly help.

Thanks in advance!

It's usually a week before the general registration opens. There's usually a link to Active on the DVC member page, and also the discount code for the $10 savings.

I'm also waiting for these to show up on the site for the new Avengers race. I have my room at VGC booked already, and just need to actually get into the race.

BTW, the DVC entry date is usually the same as when registration opens for AP holders and sometimes Disney VISA card holders. So traffic on Actice can get pretty high.

For the DL 1/2 this year, I never did get the DVC discount code to work. Others had the same issue. I also believe there was a problem with the AP code as well.

Hope it goes more smoothly this time!

Hmmm I have a FL AP, but not a CA AP (we live on the East and mostly do FL) but I rarely get AP emails. They didn't even email me to let me know I can now get an AP MagicBand (not that is matters much, I keep getting new ones with my DVC stay...) I also have the Disney Visa.. I'm sure the site will be crazy busy, but I am also sure this race is going to sell out within 24 hrs and I want a spot. >>; Not only does an Avengers themed race sound fun but I want my Coast to Coast medal =D

Honestly, I don't care about paying full price, I just want to make sure I get a spot! Disney races have been selling out so quickly!

I'm prob going to stay off property with family. My brother lives in the area.

Is the advanced registration possible only for members or also for their guests? I'm going next year to WDW for the marathon week end with a friend. It would be annoying if I can get a spot and he cannot.

I was able to register my sister for Dopey last year using the DVC early registration. I don't know if it mattered whether we had the same address or not, which we did. I just went in under my Active account and registered her. The link was on the DVC member page under extras, or something like that.

OK the Avengers 1/2 is now available for DVC members to register for! So yes, now I'm set to get Coast to Coast for 2014!

DVC Member services has posted a link for DVC Member Early Registration for the DL Avengers race... started this morning for DVC Members, there is also a discount code to use on the site.

I've been wondering about this as well since I'm an avid RunDisney attendee, but have never been able to figure out how to take advantage of my DVC/Disney Credit Card/AP discount. Now I know so I can use it to make sure I get in to the Goofy Challenge in January and the Glass Slipper Challenge in February next year. Thanks so much everyone!! :yay:

They are slowly getting better and I hope this trend continues. But they seem to put NOTHING up for the about-to-open-for-early-registration races until the day of. When signing up for Disneyland Half, they had nothing even on the morning of, until about 15 minutes after early reg was supposed to start. Of course, it was the same on the AP pages for that one. I finally logged out of everything, refreshed, and logged back in; AP showed up first so I did that. And then noticed the DVC page was live with links. OH well, missed out on that $10 off. I learned for Wine&Dine reg, and made sure to log out, refresh, then log back in and click through for the link and code.

For Avengers, official-sounding info was being given about DVC not having early reg. But that wasn't coming from rundisney, it was coming from DVC, and those reps were probably just checking the DVC pages, where nothing was being said about it. ANd, as we know today, there was indeed early reg for DVC. :)

Has anyone heard if they will be having early registration for DVC members for January's marathon weekend? Registration begins in just over a week and I have yet to see anything on DVC's website.

Wednesday April 16 @ Noon!

Do you have a link? I need to send it to a few of the runners in our group who are also dvc members.

Log in, hover over Membership Magic and click on Special Offers. Click on "Savings and Early Registration on Select runDisney Events!"

Right now it only shows Avengers, Wine&Dine, and TOT. Helpful, eh? But that's what they seem to do. They show nothing, or almost nothing, until right when early registration starts.

The DVC members in your group will just have to get to the page and keep on refreshing until something pops up. Or actually log out then log back in and get there (sometimes you end up with a cached version by refreshing). If/when early registration shows up, it will show up.

thanks!!!!

You are welcome.

And thank YOU. Because I'd answered you, it was on my mind today, wondering if I had been right. So I went to check. And I was.

And then, without my fingers talking to my brain, I went ahead and signed up for the Half. Wasn't planning on it, wasn't thinking about it, not at all.

And now I even have my husband saying he'll do the 5K (though there's no DVC early registration for THAT one).

So thank you! :wave2::goodvibes

Has anyone ever done the 5k in the morning and then kids races a little later? Trying to decide if I should do the kids races another day. I think the 5K is 6:15 am on Thurs which should be plenty of time to get back to fetch our sleeping 2.5 year old beauties from the hotel for their kids run, right? Or would it be better to do the Friday kids race to not be too crazy?

I personally would do it on different days. But that's mainly because I don't like rushing.

The 5K is at Epcot, so you finish and catch transportation back to the hotel, get yourself cleaned up, get the kids up and ready, get transportation to WWOS, walk alllll the way back to where they hold the kid races (I swear you've walked a mile before you even get to those areas), etc. I don't know when the shortest races were, but the Mickey Mile was around noon. It would have just felt too rush-rush-rush if we had done that race the same day as the 5K. For me, at least. :)
