DVC Dues History 1991 - 2007

Thanks everyone :). I do need to give a shout-out to disneyberry and Caskbill who originally put together the information back in 2003 :).

why is it that OKW has the lowest dues (with the exception of SSR). I would think that since it is the oldest, it would require more maintenance than the others. Also, it doesn't have any non-DVC rooms to rent out? I would think the money disney gets from renting regular rooms would offset the cost of maintence at BCV or BWV etc.

The larger the resort, the more members to spread the cost around. For example, All of the resorts have check-in counters and lobbies. This is paid for by the members of that resort. If OKW has 20,000 members and VWL has 8,000 members, the cost spread over the OKW members would be cheaper.

There are other factors too, like the costs to run the pool at BCV or heat and cool the halls of the enclosed hotel style resorts or insurance costs for HH.

FYI - my number of members for each resort are not fact, just an attemt to show why the costs are different.

So as to remove outliers, an alternative approach is to calculate the median annual increases. They are as follows (in order of magnitude)

BCV 4.9%
VB 4.8%
HH 4.3%
VWL 4.2%
VB (sub) 3.6%
SSR 3.5%
BWV 3.4%
OKW 3.35%

I will make another post with a different analytical tact.

If you just look at the median increase for each resort over the past five years, the story is somewhat different:

VB 6.8
VB (sub) 6.4
HH 6.3
OKW 5.4
BCV 4.9
VWL 4.2
BWV 3.8
