I am a new DVC owner at SSR and we are planning our first stay, a family trip for 6 people in December. My brother is an avid golfer and very excited that we will be next to The Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. With the new Grandstand section opening up this year, we may be literally next to it. I however do not play golf...can't even hit the ball. :confused3 Do the DVC discounts apply for my guests as well? Or is it just for DVC owners? I would love for my brother to be able to play that course; I just wasn't sure how they treat guests when it comes to the extra benefits. Thanks!

The discount applies to the DVC member plus up to three others who are in the same group as the member. In other words, the DVC member has to play for the guest to get the discount. Also, to get the discount, the member must first purchase an annual DVC golf card ($50 plus tax) at one of the golf course pro shops (you can make tee times in advance and then you just purchase the card the first time you show up for one of those times). The card is good for a year. During December the member and up to three guests can play for $50 each per round after 10 a.m. at any of the five Disney courses (Osprey Ridge, Eagle Pines, Palm, Magnolia, and Lake Buena Vista). At that time of year, regular golf rates usually run from about $85 per round (at LBV and the Palm, the least expensive) to $130 at the Osprey Ridge (the most expensive) and the DVC member rate is $50 at each of them. For December, you can make tee times up to 90 days in advance and they can be made on-line now at Disney's site.

Correct. Note, if you are an Annual Passholder, you qualify for a different discount, 30% off per round for the passholder and up to three guests and that can be used for tee times before 10 a.m. and you do not have to buy any extra golf card.

Thanks for the info.

Nice, That will work. Thanks alot. Do I have to tell them when I make the tee time?

The one limitation to the annual pass discount is that you can make tee times only 14 days or less in advance and you need to tell them at time of reserving that you will be using annual pass. The discount applies only for tee times made in advance while mentioning AP discount (you do not need to actually have the AP until you show up); thus if you make tee time without mentioning AP discount and then show up and try to use the annual pass discount, you may not get it; that rule is generally intended to prevent AP holders from reserving times more than 14 days out. As to getting tee times 14 days out, it is usually not a problem although you may not get the exact time you want particularly if attempting to get a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday early morning time because that is when many local rsidents play the courses. Nevertheless, you should still be able to get something close to what you want.
