If you are looking for information on the DDE card, you might try the allears.net Disney Dining Experience page.

I haven't seen information on the DVC discounts on the web. I recall them giving us a little brochure or list of places where the DVC discount was offered, but I don't recall it being a very thorough list. It appeared to me that each restaurant kind of decided whether offering a discount to DVCers would be good from a marketing perspective. Thus, I didn't see many of the more popular restaurants listed.

If you will spend $250.00 on meals at participating WDW restaurants in the next year (our card is good for 14 months), then the DDE card pays for itself. For our family of 6, it will pay for itself in 2 meals.

Another thing to consider is that the DDE card is for up to a party of 10, while the DVC discount is sometimes limited to the members only.

The DDE also applies to adult beverages as well

It was an easy purchase decision for us as we like a number of restaurants (for example Jikos, and Cape May Cafe Character Breakfast) that do not have DVC discounts

It has already paid for itself after one trip - we saved about $115 on the DDE vs $50 cost so net of $65 saved plus we have 2 more visits to go

Ours paid for itself last week when we were there for 5 days - family of 3. Our next trip will be 6 of us and the savings will be "pure gravy". Oh BTW - they took it for the Fantasmic Package last week too - I guess that's hit and miss.

I'd say 90% of the time when we use a coupon or other discount that there is a manager involved at one level or another. And I think it's been 100% of the time at WDW including Rainforest and Planet Hollywood. Different discounts including pass discounts, Play 4, DVC, food n fun and DDE.

I used it 5 times earlier this month and each time the waiter/waitress took the e-mail and my ID in the back and had it applied to my bill, then they brought it back. I do think a manager or supervisor has to approve it,which is true of any discount.

I just used my DDE card for the first time this month and it has almost paid for itself already, and with 3 more trips scheduled this year it was a No Brainer.

When I called re DDE 2 days ago the CM said that for our June trip I should wait as it will expire at the end of the month 12 months after I order (example: order in May 05 expires May 31, 06) we have 5 trips planed between June 5th 05 and June 4th 06 (9 terrific grandkids!) so it makes sense. I forgot to ask if I could call and order June 1 (exp. June 30, 06) and have the letter faxed to me. Seems like it would work but if 14 months is an option......

It's good for a year from the month they get everything out to you. By getting an email or fax you get a month or so extra use because of the processing time.

I ordered on 1/24/05 and my expiration is 03/31/06. I got the cards last week, so I assume they are basing the expiration on their backlog of orders. I used the e-mail with no problem earlier this month.
