DVC Discount on Catalog Orders???

Just placed a call with the Disney Catalog to order some Christmas gifts and was informed that although there is a DVC Member discount at the Disney stores, there is none when ordering through the catalog. I was told that there is a discount with the Disney Club membership, but not DVC.

Is this something new? I could swear that I've placed orders in the past and received 10% with my DVC card. Either way it's a sort of a crock. Don't see why they can't offer the same measly 10% to DVC'ers that they do to Disney Club folks. Our dues are a lot higher........

Many people (myself included) find enough benefit to have both DVC and DC membership. The DC membership is only $30 a year, so it doesn't take much to have it pay for itself.

DVC does not get a discount though many times they will give it to you anyway.

WE have never gotten a DVC discount from the catalog. Only a DC discount there.

Just confirming I've always been turned down by catalog orders as well. Seems silly but that's the way they set it up.

If you can find the item in another store it is often cheaper anyway. Yesterday we bought two Disney games at Toy R Us for $29.99 each. The Disney Catolog wants $35 each. Even with my DC discount it's cheaper at Toys R Us!

It's smart to check out other discount codes that may be available. There was a 20% off code available for a long time (DISNEYSTORE) and I used that-- it more than covered my shipping and what I would have gotten as a DC member. I may change my mind one day, but so far I haven't found that even $30 is worth my while on the DC card. So many of the discounts overlap, and the biggest advantage is the accommodation discounts which obviously aren't going to matter to me most of the time. Besides, I have always found better deals with discount codes there as well. I'm keeping my eyes peeled, though, and if it ever is proved that it will save me money I'm in line for a DC card.

Disneydad--Target has Guesswords, Monopoly, and Disney Trivia 2 on sale for $21.88 this week. Are those the ones you got? I've been eyeing them at $29.99, so I jumped on them when I saw them one sale.

To get back to the original post, I was turned down for the DVC discount through the catalog too. In fact, I've had to argue with the manager the only two times I've tried to get the discount in person.

Funny you wrote about that. I was in a Target today. They were out of the Monopoly so I felt OK about my buy at Toys R Us.

We just learned of a super secret discount on catalog orders. If you pick up the catalog at the Disney store, and order from that version, you do not pay shipping!!!

Off topic, sort of, but if you take the Target ad (or anyone else's) with you to Toys R Us, they'll match the price at the check out counter, no hassle.

I bought the three games at Target tonight. One for each of my two DD's, and one for me (Trivia)!
