Does anyone know the average cash discount rate a DVC member gets for a resort room? I posted this question on the old DVC planning board the other day but now the question is gone - as well as that board.

DVC told me they dont know any information for cash rate discounts until the 11 month mark. Was hoping someone here had some historical info!

When a Member Cash Discount is available, it's always 25% off rack rates.

As erionm said, the discount is always 25% when it's available. Member Services books at the full rack rate if the discount isn't available for the resort/room/dates you're booking. I believe there are only a certain number of discounted rooms they'll book at any given time, but the specific rules on how this is determined are a mystery. It's pretty much hit or miss when you call Member Services as to whether the discount will be available for what you want. It's also possible that you can get the discount for some nights/rooms, but not others.

So to that extent, I can understand where Member Services is coming from when they tell you they can't quote you how much your cash rooms would be until you're actually in the booking window.

If the CRO rack rates have been published for the dates you want to travel, you can figure out the best case/worst case costs by using the WDW web site to get a price quote for the resort/room/dates you want. The worst case is the quoted amount. The best case would be 25% off that, but assumes all nights/rooms are available for the discount.

Forgive me for hijacking the thread but can anyone tell me if they offer the 25% DVC discount for regular rooms (not DVC villas)?

No. The Member Cash Discount only applies at DVC Resorts. MS can't book cash rooms at non-DVC resorts.

Thanks. That makes sense. I tend to get confused with DVC vs AP discounts. BTW, how do you book a AP discount? Go through CRO?
