DVC Discount at the Disney Store--Gone

I was checking out of the DS in King of Prussia, PA on Friday and presented my DVC ID card. The manager told me the discount is no longer honored as of a week ago Thursday. They had an e-mail from their headquarters. She added, as she is a DVC member, isn't it interesting that we were never told by DVC of this change.

Actually we were told on the members WEB site on or about Feb 23rd.

I believe it is also in the Spring addition of the Vacation Magic

The Disney stores were notified on March 10th that effective that day, the Disney DVC 10 % discount would not be honored.

There has been numerous threads on this subject both on this and the DVC community board.

Yes, it's been posted on the Member Site prior to when some CMs mentioned it here. Disney sold the Disney Stores to Children's Place, hence no discount.

And besides they have nothing I ever want to buy anymore. I just hope Children's Place ups the merchandise. Not all Disney fans only want toys.

Have to totally disagree. . While I would love to see more there, there was some merchandise that was nice. Why the heck Childrens Place would stop the discount , amazes me. 10% isnt going to kill them and now all they did is make a membership group that is large, upset.

I have to agree with "OFFTHEICE"

The new spring collection that is in the stores for the young ladies and boys is quite cute. More items will be showcased on Monday after the Easter break. The store is not only toys any more. Yes, they do not carry all the merchanise that the catalogue has but it sure has most of the clothing items. Sometimes even at a better discount than what you can get in the catalogue.

Over the last few months, 2 discount coupons for 15 % each off your future total purchase have been handed out.

No flaming now, this is just my opinion, and of course everyone has a right for their own opinions. Just sometimes people talk about "what use to be" at the DIS stores and not what they are now. I do agree that more adult clothing needs to be placed in the stores besides Tee shirts, but even the Catalogues don't carry that many adults clothes.

The Disney store at dtd is part of the "World of Disney" and is not part of the US Disney Store Chain.

I was not under the impression we could ever get a DVC discount there. The only discount I believe you can get there is a 10% AP discount.

CarolA, As I stated, I do agree with you that I too wish that more adult clothes were offered in the stores, but also in the catalogues. Us adults like Disney clothes just as much as the little ones.

Never a DVC discount at WOD. You can get one with an AP. In the past you could get one with AMEX but no more.

I agree....while I'm not necessarily upset, I will say what little incentive I had to shop there is now gone. The DS near me is still very strongly geared toward young children. My youngest is 12 and she can't fit in any of the children's clothing line----she would need an adult "S" or "M" since they don't have teen sizes. It's funny, because the Children's Place store and the DS are practically across from eachother at my mall.
