When we bought our BLT points back in 2008 we received matching developer points for use in SSR. We weren't able to make use of these points (185) by returning to SSR within the time 'permitted' for their use so deposited them with RCI; as I understand it the deposit now 'expires' in Oct 2011; we deposited into RCI in Oct 2009.

At the time we were given the developer points our guide suggested we could deposit the points into RCI and then possibly use them to get a DVC unit via this route. My question is 'can that be right'? We haven't put in any search with RCI yet to use the points.

No, DVC members cannot use RCI through DVC to return to DVC. I presume you deposited 160 and lost the remainder. Regardless you need to figure out what you have and put in a request for something that might interest you.

Thank you. I had a feeling this might be the answer. I will speak to DVC member services and see if there are any UK locations we could use the points at.

I don't know if that is correct or not. I DO know that, with Wyndham, you can deposit into RCI and then use those points to book back into the Wyndham system...often with major discounts that are much cheaper than booking directly within the Wyndham system.

But DVC is a very different animal from Wyndham, and it's possible that DVC has some prohibition against using RCI to come back into DVC. If that's the case, your "guide" gave you very poor advice.

I think the only way to tell for sure is to call MS and ask what is permitted and what is not.

They do not allow it.
