I found a thread after posting this. Thanks

We are heading out to SSR in Oct. and I have the DDP for the duration of our 11 night stay. I believe we get a discounted rate for the DDP which we had last year and loved it. We ate at places we probably would not have if we didn't have it. Anyways, this year we are planning on getting the AP so we can plan our vacation a couple weeks earlier next year to save on park passes. Finally getting to my question, What exactly is the discount given for the DDP to DVC members and does this fair better than the discount given to AP holders for the DDE? Also, do AP holders get discounts on DDP?

Thanks,
Dan

There is no DVC discount on the DDP.

AP holders do not get a discount on DDP either.

The DDE discount is 20%off WDW owned and operated TS and most resort lounges as well as several AK counter service spots. The cost is $65 for the first card and $25 more for a second card for a spouse. Alcoholic beverages are included too at spots that accept DDE.

The savings are generally higher with the DDP but DDE offers more flexibility. You just have to run the numbers for your family.

I agree--you have to look at the numbers. Which, you can easily do with the menus online at allearsnet.com.

We've done the DDE for a few years, and this will be the first time we've gotten the DDP.

The way it worked for us, is that we would pretty much break even, if I added up what we would normally eat at the restaurants. However, since we normally don't get appetizers for everyone , we'll end up with more food for less with DDP.

When running the numbers don't forget that tax and 18% tip are included on the DDP.

Is it true that tips won't be included starting in '08? Saw that on the restaurant board but haven't gotten any confirmation on that.

DW and I decided on an AP and the DDE for our trip in July. Food wise it will be just DW and I as DS will only be 8 months old on the trip. We will only be getting on AP to get the DDE. We will get a 10 day park hopper for DW.

I crunched the numbers, factoring in the cost of the AP and the DDE card and felt that with our eating habits that it will be close and we might spend a tad bit more. However, we will get to eat two TS a day. Breakfast will probably be a quick bite in the villa before going to the parks except for Chef Mickeys and Kona Cafe for breakfast.

There are some of the other factors that led us to do the DDE. When is it hot, we don't tend to eat a lot. Also, getting out of the heat with the baby for 2 TS a day will be nice. We get to eat what we want and don't "feel guilty" about wasting food that we just can't eat.

Now, as DS gets older, like teenage older, and if there are any other kids, something like the DDP will most likely be worth it. I remember being a teenage boy and eating everything in site. There won't be any wasted food then! :rotfl:
