DVC & Daytona 500 2/18/07

Just booked a trip to SSR for Presidents week which will include a trip to Daytona for the day to see the 500. Anyone else staying at any DVC resort and heading to Daytona for the race. We did it 2-3 years ago and can't seem to remember how I did it. We would prefer not to have a rental car, but don't think there is any transportation that would take us to the track and back. Or if we rent a car, can we pick one up onsite early in the AM, can't remember what time we left to head to Daytona and return it late at night , or the next day on site?

I really wish there was a way to see how many DVC owners are at the resorts for the race and try to higher a bus to take us to and from.

I've stayed at SSR twice during Daytona and we rent a car. If you leave early, I mean like 6:00am you hit no traffic going in. About 45 minute ride. I have not heard of any transportation from Orlando, but then again I never really looked-Enjoy

I would check with the track via a phone call or possibly through their website. Usually they can get you contact names of shuttle services and where you can get on the shuttle. Typically, it's from one of the hotels in the DTD area. Good Luck! And, have a great time at the race.....we haven't decided if we are going yet, we usually go the the Pepsi 400. Go Jr!

well i solved my problem! called daytona, the race doesn't start until 3:30 on sunday! used to be 12-12:30. so I rented a car from dollar at the Grosvenor(which is very close to SSR!!), and can return it on Monday, so just a one day rental! We hate having a car at WDW, so all is well!!!
