DVC cruise upgrades

A couple of questions regarding cruising using DVC points: Can you get an upgrade if you booked with DVC points. If you can how does this work (do you have to pay cash difference or is it just given to you)?

Actually, I am curious about this too. If I have enough points to get a Cat. 11 room, can I use cash once I get to port to upgrade my room?

Based on info I received from DVC member services, it is extremely unlikely that a member booked on points would receive a free upgrade… less likely then those booked on cash only. However, I believe you can still purchase an upgrade, if available, at the port.

Any chance they would be more receptive to giving a free upgrade if you were celebrating a special occasion? I turn 40 the day our cruise starts.
