Hi we just bought a DVC resale and have 338 points to use by Nov. 30. We just went to WDW so DH and I thought we'd go on a disney cruise without the kids. Are there only a certain number of rooms available for DVC members? I thought I heard that somewhere. I know there are rooms still available on the Tortola Sept. 12 cruise but didn't know how it worked with points. Also are the fuel surcharges and port fees included in the points or do you have to pay cash for those? Thanks so much this sight is great!!

While I don't know if the inventory is controlled, I have booked on points and that is the price - no port charges or taxes. We did pay for the normal tips per day but that was really the only add on. We had a great time - but I will try to rent points and pay for the cruise next time as it works out cheaper. You can rent points for $10-$12 per point so the 338 pt could get you $3400 that you can use to book your cruise and pay for the tips. I have mentioned to co-workers that I am willing to rent out points and I have done it a couple of times now. I'd rather rent out points to people I know who understand that I paid for the timeshare and have annual maintenance fees so I can't rent it out unless I get compensated. The $10 a point is still far less than they would pay Disney for deluxe accomodations so its a win / win situation. Good luck.

That's what I did also, I rented 2 years worth of pts in order for us to go on a cruise in 2010. We choose a different ship than Disney, so we couldn't use our pts anyway. We will be going on a 9 day cruise and it's completely paid for by renting our pts. The hard part is we won't be going back to Disney until 2011.

You should have went on a Disney Crusie. At least that way you would have had a taste of WDW until your next trip

I agree, but we are going with another couple and they really didn't want to do Disney. We choose Royal Caribbean together, so I'll just have to wait till 2011 till my next Disney fix.
