I am currently looking to buy into DVC and am wondering how many points I should buy. I know that we would be interested in using points across a few of our years toward the Disney Cruise. Has anyone any info on the number of DVC points it took to take a family of four on a 7day, balcony room cruise? Just trying to get a feel for how many to expect.

Thank you! :Pinkbounc

The number of points also depends on what time of the year you cruise, the ages of the children and the itinerary - i.e., Western or Eastern.

FWIW, the number of points required to take a cruise has increased every year.

As an example, for 2005, a 7 night cruise (Eastern itinerary) in at cat 6 (Deluxe Stateroom with Verandah) during regular season would be:

277 points for each adult
128 for each child age 13+,
97 points for each child age 6 -12
95 points for each child ages 3 -5
26 points for each child 2 and under

Points listed assume all four people are sharing the same cabin.

HTH a little - the points to cruise vary quite a bit depending on your choices/requirements.

Best wishes -

We've gone on 2 cruises using our points and planning our next. Great way to go!

We went to BCV the day after Easter last year, stayed 3 nights in a 1 BR and then went on the Wonder 3-night in a Cat 8 (ocean view) and it was 478 points for the whole "package" (for 4 of us, with a 7 YO and a 4 YO). I forget the exact breakdown, but the majority of the points were for the cruise - obviously.

You would be better off, both financially and otherwise, just to buy less points and pay cash for the cruise.

We've done it both ways and I totally agree with you Dean.
