DVC Commercial on ABC During Walt Disneyworld Christmas Parade

I was watching the ABC Walt Disneyworld Christmas Parade show and caught a commercial for DVC during one of the commercial breaks. Anybody else see it?

Yup, we saw it! We enjoyed the parade, wish we were (still) there!

I saw it too! I was surprised, that is the first one I've seen on regular TV.

I saw it too... Loved the parade! Does Tinkerbell every have meet and greets?? My youngest DD loves tinkerbell and went nuts when she saw her in the parade (from Disneyland)

I thought I caught a glimpse of a DVC commercial. I loved the parade. I think I may be able to convience DH that one year it may be nice to spend the Holidays with Mickey and crew!

This was actually taped the first week in December. I thought it was live. I found another thread where they said it was taped ahead of time cause of the unpredictible weather.

Yes, that's the case. When we were there last year during the first week of December, we received a phone message inviting us to go to the MK for the taping of the parade. Couldn't make it though as we were checking out that day and had to get to the airport. There's always next time though...

Yes, I saw the commercial...it made me want more points!!!


And, yes..the parade was filmed while we were there this year, on Dec 3-5...MK was a ZOO!!!! We went over to AK for the day. WDW brought in THOUSANDS of extras who did a "3-hour stint" as crowds, and then they spent the rest of the day in the park for free...there were two 3-hour sessions for this...and, it was the ONLY time the Christmas parade was put on outside of MVMCP (they used it for the 4:00PM parade), so all of the people who didn't want to pay for MVMCP went to see this parade...it was completely insane!!! If we didn't have a small child, we probably would've taken part in the insanity...but, I knew her patience would not last for that!!!

And, it was 78 and sunny that day!!

Getting on TV during the parade is VERY hard work! I had to put in over four hours at the curb on Dec 6th (a bit cloudy and damp) just to get 1.5 seconds on today's parade footage....but it was worth it! DH, DS, and BIL all saw me during the parade and called me.

All the Christmas Parades are taped ahead of time. It's done for reason of logistics. Everything cannot be done at one time. ......And it eliminates mistakes.

I was somewhat surprised to see a DVC ad during the parade. I'm wondering if this is a harbinger to decreased volume in sales, or is this a new approach? Should be very interesting to see if we can see any other DVC commercials on the Wonderful World of Disney or any other ABC show.

Wish we were down there for the parade. Again this year it was a bit easy to tell what shots were done on what days, because one of the days was bright and sunny, and the other was a bit overcast it seemed.

We were at the world from Dec 4th-13th, and can't remember which day it was, but we had an unusual conversation with a cast member. We were infront of the castle @ MK and there was a performance of several characters at that moment and I quote "they are practicing for the performance which occurs Christmas day, which is televised nationally on ABC. This way it will be perfect on Christmas day!"

The CM directly implied that the performers were just practicing, and the actual performance would occure on X-mas, live, or slightly delayed. But by the sounds of it, they tape in advance. How funny. So there are no live performances (or slightly delayed) from WDW on X-mas?

I enjoyed the parade as usual and was VERY happy that it wasn't one big Magical Gatherings commercial like last year. I had to turn it off last year because all the Magical Gatherings mentions were getting very annoying.

The whole family noticed the DVC commercial especially since we had everyone at HHI over Thanksgiving.

I hate to say this... But I could not help thinking to myself ... this is nothing but a 2-1/2hr WDW/DL Infommercial... I saw more plugs and ads from all the hosts and guests, as well as the commercials... it was very disturbing to me... I wonder if Ei$ner was behind that format....

I totally agree with what you said. It seemed like one plug after another. It made me wonder if years past parade braodcasts were like this too.
