DVC Closing Delay

This has been so frustrating. We purchased a resale contract recently. Deed recorded on 4/19. Checking the closing thread, most contracts that recorded at that time received their member number around 5/2. We contacted DVC a few times and were finally told that they did not receive the transfer docs until 5/13. DVC said to contact our broker. Our broker said to contact the title company. The title company says tracking info shows package delivered to DVC on 4/26, and to contact DVC regarding the delay. Is this a DVC screwup? Are these common? Any suggestions?

I would do a conference call between DVC member admin and the title company. I'd also ask them to send you the tracking number/info. At this point we don't know who or why things have been held up.

Since DVC says they have it does it matter much now? There won't be any recompense from anyone no matter who the delay was with.

I don't think understanding who screwed up will do anything for you. It has been delayed but now they have it so you will get processed soon

If one can convince DVC they've had it a month it is likely one could get them to expedite it.

I guess that I'm in the camp of DVC has it, what does it metter whose fault it is. Yes, I agree that it is very frustrating. But, the title is where it should be. I doubt pusing DVC into admitting they screwed up, will speed things up (maybe it will, but I doubt it).
Good luck with the rest of the rest of the process.

If DVC has had the documents since 4/26 they need to step and take action on the OPs membership, IMO. I agree do a three way call with DVC admin and your title company. It appears someone at DVC has dropped the ball.

If one can document they had the documents for a full month (17 day difference), I fully expect they'll jump into gear and get this done. The date they're likely looking at now is the date someone entered info into the computer to get things started. My bet is the holdup was on the Title Company though. I certainly would not get overly pushy with DVC without getting documentation from the title company. If you get the tracking number and delivery company that should be enough, one could look up the details themselves with that.

Thanks for the replies. Spoke with the title company today (Vacation World Title). The rep said that due to the large number of problems/delays at Disney, they (title company) have decided to no longer close on DVC sales. The rep did give me an email for a supervisor at Disney to follow-up on our issue, which I have just done. Hopefully she'll be responsive.

I can't believe that's accurate, did they give you the tracking info? I'm guessing they didn't and they're covering their tracks.

Deed was recorded on 4/19. Title rep says transfer docs delivered via email to DVC on 4/26. They provided USPS tracking info which shows a package delivered to Disney on 4/30. DVC member administration today again tells me that they received the docs on 5/13 and will be processed based on that date.

The date that DVC "receives" the documents is based on when they scan/log them into the system, not the date they mail arrives.

At this point, I suspect you'll be able to get your member number by Wednesday, so there's not much point in pushing it.

Just wanted to give an update. The DVC supervisor said that they had been instructing the title company to send docs to DVC Administration, but that the the title company kept addressing the packages to DVC Accounting, causing the delay. Would have been nice if the title company was willing to contact DVC directly to get this resolved, but they seemed to want no part in working with DVC any longer. The broker said they no longer use that title company, which is now focused on bulk transactions. In any case, the DVC supervisor said she moved our file to the top of the stack for that day and the points finally showed up in our account, five and a half weeks after closing.

While you'll never know for certain. 4 days later than they said it was delivered and to the wrong department (assuming those are accurate) would certainly fall onto the title company rather than DVC. Plus it sounds like you got some relief from DVC as I expected. Welcome Home!

Thanks. From accepted offer to receiving points in account took 3 months and 3 weeks. Not very happy about that. Is there a forum thread rating the brokers and title companies? Or one for people to share their experiences with either?
