DVC Chit Chat Thread

Another reason to love VGF ♥️ is it tea at Harrods? No … Am I going to Harrods anytime in the foreseeable future? also No … it was a wonderful relaxing Disney tea service and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Is this the new tea offering? Is it outdoors?

I love afternoon tea but the actual food & beverage served at afternoon teas on DCL ranges from meh (the desserts) to downright shameful (scones and beverages). They don’t even serve the kids tea, they get apple juice!

(can we rant on the chitchat thread?)

This is the post Covid reopening of the tea room. It is themed to Alice in Wonderland. I’m not sure tea purists will enjoy it 😆 but keeping it in the context of: it’s not Harrods, it’s not the Waldorf, it’s not the Four Seasons (two of which are within driving distance and have a more posh tea service ) for where it is and what it is (a HIGHLY themed afternoon tea) I thought they knocked it out of the park. The room is lovely, the enormous windows look out over the hustle and bustle of the grounds, the cast members are calm and attentive without being intrusive. It literally felt like time stood still while we were there.

We are going with our little ones in a few weeks… something we would never dare try at the Waldorf or the Four Seasons….

This is where WDW truly shines. I can take my kids there and try to work on basic restaurant manners and nobody really judges when they aren’t exactly perfect!
So you’re telling me you’ve never seen the threads where Disney Adults complain that noisy children ruined their experience at Cinderella’s Royal Table then? 😛

Seriously though, I agree that it’s great there are opportunities for kids to stretch their horizons with dining adventures!

I know some of those Disney Adults. They complain about everybody else's kids. Of course kids related to them are little angels and have been brought up right. (They'll all be in therapy sooner or later.) Notwithstanding the dining experience with kids, these people also can't stand it when kids start having a wild time in the pools. You know like splashing and laughing and having fun! I do stop my grands from repeatedly jumping in the deep part off the sides. They are great swimmers but sometimes I get tired of getting splashed and worry they will get hurt, plus I don't want them to annoy others too much.

I've had 3 kids at Disney and various other events. Two did well, but my son would end up crawling on the floor under the table at the point where he wasn't in a highchair any longer. Eventually he grew up and has 2 kids of his own. I'm waiting for history to repeat.

I’m very easy going in restaurants and pools … I’m fun! I promise. But I’m the self appointed Disney elevator police. 😆 I have seen my granddaughters perform an uneven bar routine on the railing inside the elevator that would put Nadia Comaneci to shame. I pull the plug on that fun straightaway. I also can’t stand when the elevator door opens and other people’s children run into the elevator and we can’t get out. I just stand there and stare at the mom until the light bulb goes on, and she tells Timmy to let us out 🤷🏼‍♀️ the elevators at Poly are my personal hell, followed in close second by the Boardwalk.

I'm one of those parents that refuses screen time at food time which means my 2 boys (5 and 7) rarely go to restaurants. It's just too hard, they can do Mexican (booth where they are 100% under it by the end having some imaginary battle) or Chinese buffet (madhouse so my unruly kids are hardly noticed and they don't have to sit and wait for food). We go to Disney because we can actually go to a meal as a family in lots of different arrangements. There are crayons, there are characters, there is always something they like on the menu. My kids aren't unruly they are just boys and Disney gets it.... this is why we go. It's a vacation I can enjoy because I get to relax and enjoy everything without worrying about them.

My grands have been in Gymnastics since age 3 and Swimming since earlier than that, plus now one is also in Chorus at school. So it's cartwheels, balance bar (whatever works, including elevators), diving when there are no diving signs and when I point that out they switch to holding their noses and jumping until I nix that. (I often have them without parents.) Then there is the singing at the top of their voices (and the youngest one especially has range and volume) plus making fun of me because I either don't know an artist or song or because I actually do know the artist. Can't win. Every so often I'll throw them a curve ball such as 'did you guys see Bad Bunny at halftime last night?' I'm old but I'm not completely senile yet.

Been really lucky on waitlists so far, just had mine pop yesterday going from BRV to BCV for 6 days in June.

Pretty stoked about it, stayed at BCV once so far (very first DVC trip) but that was only 3 days on a split stay.
Hope you have a great trip! I literally just checked out of BCV a few minutes ago before jumping over here to Disboards to kill time at MCO. We loooove BCV, and certainly enjoyed our time there. But our room was pretty banged up, and so were some of the common areas. It was particularly striking coming from a refurbed room at Kidani on a split stay. But I’ll gladly take a little wear and tear to get BCV’s location any time.

That’s about what I would expect, right in the middle between the soft goods refurb it had and the hard goods coming up 2030.

Glad y’all had a good time!

Bummer. Recently got the refresh too.
Eh was soft goods that added the Murphy bed, everything else is still the same, like the two chairs in studios they just got reupholstered but actual wood is same so if it was showing some wear, it’s still there. Same for like the pull down under tv, all the same. All that won’t get replaced until 2030.

At least the hallways and Drawing Room look really good. Our studio did end up with a poorly mounted and crooked murphy bed artwork.
