Disney has a range of seasons from Low to High. Do DVC member's bookings follow the same periods or is a Disney Low season a High season for DVC ??
(i.e. Dec 1-14 is Disney Low, but from reading the board this seams to be a moderate - high time for DVC members?)
Should I be concerned when trying to book trips as a DVC member in a Disney low season?
Just trying to use this information for planning purposes if my DW and I were to join.
Still Thinking, Probably Over-Thinking !!!!!!!

I appreciate all of the guidance and information this board provides. It has been really helpful over the last few weeks !!!

Thanks again.

Hi, and welcome to the boards. As far as that low season 12/1 -12/14, in the past few years that has changed a bit. It is low points and many members, like to come in at that time, everything decorated and all the special events going on, then back home in time for Christmas! Add to that low crowds in the parks just made it a perfect time to go. That time of the year has become very popular in the past year or two, I found that out the hard way this year when I was waitlisted for 4 out of 7 days. I joined the ranks of booking day by day at my eleven month window this year. I can't say that all low season point usage is as popular, it's just that at that particular time of the year overall has become more popular even at the resorts. There is some cheer something:confused3 that comes into WDW I believe the first week of Dec. Hope this helps, don't over think it, just go for it!! We did 10 years ago, and never regretted it:goodvibes.

Figure any time that points are low, reservations might be harder to get. Holidays are always tough.

The best times are probably in Jan (but not the first week, Marathon time or MLK week), early Feb (before Mardi Gras), early May, late August, early Sept. The rest of the time you need to make your reservation at least at 7 months out.

Low seasons are easier than the busy ones but with the ability to book 11 months in advance at your home resort you have some advantages. We'e been members for 11 years and never had any issues with booking if we did it between 10 and 11 months Good luck and welcome Craig & Susie

The flip side of that is that the High season for the rest of WDW is not the high season for DVC. In other words, summer! DVC owners who have a choice (i.e. no school schedule issues) do NOT go when it's too hot/crowded/ requires high points. In other words, summer (high season) is actually easier reservation-wise than many other times of the year.

I, for one, avoid July & August like the plague:lmao:

The busy times for WDW and the busy seasons for DVC are not at all the same.

As a matter of fact, the low-point period from just after Thanksgiving until mid-December is probably THE busiest, and most difficult to get, time of the year for DVC. ALL resorts are very much in demand because of low points, holiday decorations, holiday events like MVMCP, Candlelight Processional, etc, and also the DVC association meetings are held then. For ressies during that period, you will need to book early in your 11-month window at your home resort. If you own at a small resort like VWL or BCV, you may have to book day-by-day.

There are other very busy times at certain resorts. For example, the Food & Wine Festival is very busy for the Epcot resorts (BCV and BWV).

And the peak holiday period -- Thanksgiving itself, and the period from mid-December through New Years -- is very busy at all resorts.
