I don't like to spread rumors I just want to see if there is any truth to what I heard. We were in a van with an OKW cast member and he told us that he heard DVC is looking to expand their timeshare to NYC. He said he was told they are looking into purchasing property. Has anyone else heard this?

I think Pre- 9/11 there was a somewhat official announcement for a NYC DVC. They then cancelled those plans..
I would doubt they start that up again in this economy (unless Aulani sells much better than expected)

Here's a link to the NYC DVC that never came to fruition. It was scrapped in the mid 90's.

I doubt that we'll see a NYC DVC between the price of real estate and construction. I would think maintenance fees would be very high as well.

My plumber's cousin used to work as a street vendor near one of the Times Square subway stations (not sure which one). HE said there was no truth to the NYC rumor, but that Disney was going to build a resort in Hawaii. FWIW...

I get the feeling that Disney is testing the waters with the DVC in Hawaii. I have been told that sales pre-freeze have been below expectations. A good indicator of poor sales is if they hold special sales events at remote sites. If they can't meet their sales forecasts, sales at other locations won't happen.

I also read a ruour about niagara falls a year or so back. I would buy lots of points there :)

Let's see if National Harbor DVC will ever become a reality...I'd think it

not until Aulani is back on track & sales for that and other properties

currently being sold are on upswing.

I was a little surprised to see them do Hawaii and agree that we'll never see an NYC resort. We visited Vero Beach for the first time a couple of weeks ago. While it's a beautiful resort and the perfect size, I have to say it's a little sad to see the evidence of what VB "should" have been had sales been better.

You would think from the expensive lesson of VB, DVD would have thought twice before trying their hand off property again. Personally, I think DVD found their golden goose with BLT, hence why they're most likely building a Grand Floridian DVC right now. If the yet to be announced GF villas sell half as good as BLT (which we all know they will), I would be willing to bet the next DVC to open would either be Poly or BLT South.
