What DVC benefits are you entitled to when renting points? Are you entitled to discounts (i.e. spa) that are available to DVC members?

You don't get member benefits. So none.

You get the benefits of staying in a Disney hotel, so things like extra magic hours or Magical Express or transportation.

I'd add that Members who stay by other means than using their own points get a few additional benefits but not that much. For non members, it can be hit or miss. At times non member renters have gotten additional benefits and discounts but it's been far less or not at all the last few years.

no. staying in a DVC resort does not make you a DVC member. you would need a DVC member card for most discounts and pool hopping.

you do get all onsite perks as crisi said: extra magic hours, free bus to/from the airport, free package delivery from the parks to your resort, free parking at the parks, access to the dining plan (without having to add tickets to make a package - but never "free dining").

Thanks for the info. I was hoping that I could get the discount at the spa.

When we rented points to stay at the Aulani, I was surprised that we were treated as owners. If they knew we were not DVC members they never let on. I even got free parking which is a perk for DVC members. I didn't try to get any discounts though.

Sometimes it happens - although it seems rarer now in the Magic Band era where they know and they aren't looking at an undifferentiated room key. But renters aren't entitled to discounts. When Disney wants to make magic for someone, either on purpose or because of holes in process (that was more frequent in the past) that's up to them.
