My parents are DVC members and every other year we travel to WDW as an extended family. We are going to be staying at Saratoga Springs during Thanksgiving week this year. Is there a list somewhere of DVC benifits such as discounts? I want to make sure we don't miss anything.

Upon Check in you will receive a pamphlet with all the current DCV perks. A member card may be required to receive these discounts, some CMs ask some don't so best for the member to carry the card at all times. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks. Do all 12 of us have "DVC Member" on our cards or just my parents? I seem to recall all of us did last time we were there.

Are there ever any really good discounts or just the usual 10% off here and there type of stuff?

You should all have DVC Member on the room keys.

Most of the DVC discounts at Disney are 10%; you get some better discounts with the card at non-Disney establishments like Swan / Dolphin restaurants.

Your parents can also log on to the member web site to see the current perks before your trip.

The member website has a copy of the perks that are currently available, the majority are the 10% kind.

It doesn't really say DVC Member, but it should say DVC Room. Whether that is enough to get a DVC discount, though...

I'd be interested in knowing more about member benefits too. DH & I are researching buying DVC and the promotional info is pretty vague. I realize the benefits can change, but generally speaking? I'm mainly interested in discounts on passes & golf.
Thnx!

No discounts on regular passes. Slight discount on water park passes and nice discount currently on Annual Passes and Premium Annual passes. Until the end of Dec, members can purchase a PAP for $399 and it must be activated by the end of Dec 2013. This was a one time thing.

Currently DVC Members and their immediate family members living at the same address can get a Premuim WDW Annual pass for $399. That is a limited time offer, that I think expire at the end of this year. The normal AP discount is $100 off. The Premium AP Discount is $125 off. Those are for adult passes. There are some minor discounts on daily water park tickets, behind the scenes tours, etc.

There is no discount on Magic Your Way park tickets.

there is having "DVC" on your hotel/KTTW card and there is a blue DVC membership card. two separate things.

sometimes you will be expected to show the blue membership card, not your hotel key, if you want a DVC discount.

Many, maybe most of the discounts are offered by companies other than Disney. Disney negotiates the perks yearly and it's up to the other companies if they want to participate. Many of the restaurants, golf, and water sports fall into this category. We lost free Valet parking when the outside company canceled the perk without notice.

Perks are nice but IMO they are more of a marketing tool to entice direct buyers. There isn't any other benefit for Disney to offer them.

Don't buy a contract hoping to get perks, buy to save some money on your room understanding that you are locked into Disney vacations for many years to come.

The member discount for AP's changed when the prices changed in June. Regular APs are now $149 off.

Oops, you're right. I bought mine during my May trip and forgot about the new price.

As far as the pass discounts for immediate family members @ same address, do they count same sex domestic partners in that category?

It's not on the list. You could always call and see what they say, but if you don't have a legally binding document, the answer may be no.

I missed your reply earlier. Thanks for the info. I would definitely agree, we wouldn never buy for the perks. I was just curious. The guide mentioned something about discounts on passes & golf the other night on the phone during his sales pitch. I was just curious what they were since none of the info has any specifics.

The portable perks listing on the website is a pdf which can be downloaded. I put mine on my iphone for our last trip and for future reference. allears also has a pdf comparing dining discounts for the AP, DVC and TIW.
