DVC benefit for renters

Hi,

I officially rented out my first 60 points!

When I called MS they said that renters do not receive any of the DVC discounts. Not that MS doesn't know what their talking about, but I thought I read somewhere here that they do. Something about their Key to the World Card will have DVC written somewhere on it.

Can someone clarify?

the key (id from the resort) will say DVC member - but lately the valet parking has been with the DVC member card.

I don't generally take my DVC member card - although this last trip I did take it - I didn't use the valet parking - but did one of the restuarants and they didn't question me or ask to see the DVC member card.

I believe that renters maynot be technically entitled to any of the DVC member benefits - specifically if/since they paid to be in the unit. I could be mistaken, but I think if you're renters don't make a point to tell the front desk that they've rented the points, the default position is that the room key card will say DVC member on it - and that they *might* get some of the discounts. Of course they might also be asked for their DVC membership cards too.

A renters key does have DVC member on the room key so if they show it to the shop or restaurant they should get the discount.

Somewhere in the documents, it says that people who are your guests who do not pay you for using your points may be entitled to some of the discounts. Those who provide compensation for the points (rentees) are not.

That's not to say they won't, though. They may be asked for the DVC Membership card with the room key.

Renters are not supposed to receive any member benefits. That is specifically mentioned in DVC documents.

In reality, some member benefits may be extended to anyone whose room ID states "DVC Member".

While it would be wise not to expect any such benefits, you may be able to take advantage of a few perks.
