What does DVC Availability look like for a studio in Nov - Early Dec? I found out trying to go the 1st week of Dec is highly unlikely at this point in time. Any tips on getting a studio? Should I shorten my trip and try for a 1 BDRM or do I have a better shot at going in Nov? Im gonna start kicking myself for passing up the free dining promo, but I really wanted to go at X Mas.
HELP!

WE are going Dec 5-10, called today to try to get into VWL, AKV OR BWV studio, there wasnt much, we do have BCV studio for those dates. When I called a while back one of the people at Member Services said the big guys are going to be around Dec 5-6 so it would be hard to get something those nights. Hope this helps

Well... you started out saying November - early December, which is a good time to book, but then you ended up saying you want to go for Xmas...

Forget Xmas unless you are looking at 2008. Don't mean to sound snarky (thanks starbox), but Christmas is not possible at this time IMHO.

No, no. I don't want to go on Christmas - I hate lines. I wanted to go as soon as the Christmastime decor went up - which is early Nov, right? Is DVC packed then too?

Last year Christmas decorations were up in MK the day after Halloween. However that time is very busy too. Food and Wine goes to mid-November. There is also the Festival of the Masters.

DVC is challenging anytime between October 1st and January 10th. You start out with the Food & Wine Fest, Halloween, followed by Thanksgiving, then the early December rush, and the Christmas holidays. The very best chance you have would be the time period between the end of the Food & Wine and Thanksgiving. That's only a very few days, kind of a short window.

That being said, it's very late now to use even that strategy. If you are renting points any savvy owner that sees those dates is going to take a pass as they know it is unlikely that a ressie be available. While an owner might try the waitlist for a personal trip, they are not going to want to waitlist for a renter. It ties up their points and if that waitlist doesn't come through they are out the time and trouble for nothing AND may not be able to rent those points before they lose them.

Best chance right now for that time period is paying for a room through CRO.

I just called on Monday no studios were available. We ended up booking a 1 bedroom at Saratoga Springs and waitlisting for BCV and BWV. (hopefully)
My dh thinks that we are waitlisted for a studio (I didnt tell him i did the one bedroom! It is our first wedding anniversary and I want a Great Room) Our reservations are from November 25- December 2. Staying at another resort on the 24th.

The last few years the holiday decorations are going up much, much earlier. If you check the WDW website, you can find the dates for MVMCP and the Osborne Lights ---- they start sometime around Nov 13, give or take a day. So, it's very possible to see many of the decorations up in mid-November.

There's often a little window between the last weekend of Food and Wine and Thanksgiving when it's easier to get DVC rooms, so you might have more success than in early December. But you just never know. Sounds like you're flexible, so give all your possible dates a try! (I wouldn't expect success at VWL, however)

Good luck! It's a wonderful time to be at Disney.

We were at WDW last year - the first week of November, Jersey Week. The gingergbread house was half up in the lobby of the GF, and Christmas trees were going up all over. We were lucky to see the Osborne lights the week before the official lighting during a test - there was a sign up in MGM telling us about the test and the time - it was beautiful!!!!!
