3 weeks ago I went to the DVC presentation at WDW. We decided to go to Disneyland on our day after we returned home to Los Angeles to compare the deals. We got the same offer that we had at WDW for SSR or AKV, but besides the opportunity to purchase Grand Californian Villas when they come out before they are offered to the general DVC members, we also got 2 vouchers for premium annual passes. The vouchers are good for 2 years, so now I don't have to buy a pass for the next 2 years, that's a significant savings.
When we were in Florida, we asked our guide there if there was any reason to purchase in California over Florida, and she didn't believe there was. I'm so glad we went to Disneyland and found out for ourselves that they were offering more than Florida thought they were offering. We called her after we closed the deal here in California, because we didn't want to leave her hanging. She was surprised that we could get so much, and wished they were allowed to offer something like that in Florida. It sure doesn't hurt to compare the two. Now we have a guide in Florida, and one in California since they split the sale. I think they try to make the offer a bit more appealing in California since you really can't see what you are buying, and there is no history of DVC at the resort here.
4 years ago I tried to find someone at Disneyland who could give me info on DVC. The response I got was "What's DVC?" It will be interesting to see how the DVC develops here.
