My husband and I have been members since 2007 and I am technically the associate member because I did not have my appropriate ID when we signed up. I make all our reservations and I have Veto authority. I don't think Charles has called DVC even once.

Today I called to Add Dining plan to our upcoming vacation for Marathon Weekend and I got the run around from the lady on the phone.

She asked for our member number, my name, then the last 4 digits of my social. No problem all as usual. then she asked for my address, phone, Email address and my club ID #. I asked her what that was and Why I needed it since I had never used it before to book any of the previous 25 trips in the last 2 years. She said it was because I was an associate and just a follower. She then asked who the member was and what the use year was for the account. I told her it was my husband and our month. after ALL that she said I would need my club Id which I had used to sign up for the website with 2 years ago.

I found it very demeaning. Has anyone else who is an associate, had the same experience or been asked for their Club ID #??

There have been some recent changes to the Rules and Regulations regarding Associate Members.

I wonder if this is all part of that. They are now limiting peopole to be Associates on only 4 people's memberships so maybe they have to input the Club ID# so it can be tracked.

I would assume that once they have all your information, associated with your DH's account, it won't be needed in the future.

Some people have been added to Member's accounts as Associates for the purpose of renting out their points for them.

Disney has decided to put them out of business so they are trying to verify all Associates.

We just made reservations for Dec 2010 and I am an associate on both my mother's and mother in law's accounts. Had no problems, and we had to transfer, bank and borrow points.

We (DW, DD) are going down with both my mother and my mother in law and my Aunt, Grandmother (93) and cousin.

Got a 2BR in our home resort SSR.

Now if only the 2011 point charts would come out.

What would a Club ID do for verification that all the other information wouldn't achieve? If the associate is already on the account they would seem to be valid if they answer the standard security questions. It doesn't sound like the OP was looking to access the account for the first time as an associate. And any/all information could be memorized by a nefarious associate - even a Club ID. Seems odd. :confused3

Sounds to me like somebody in MS was in a grumpy mood!
