Can somebody help me understand the DVC annual passes. If I buy one just now and we aren't going until next July would it be valid from the point of purchase of when you first use the tickets . and my son is 20 but as he is paralised obviously can't drive so hasn't got photo ID and here in the UK we don't have country ID's so how do I get him his AP. My husband and I don't have photo driving lic's either just passports.

If you buy over the phone (via MS) or online, you receive an exchange certificate (aka voucher). There is no expiration on the vouchers/exchange certificates. Your year of park admission starts on the day you exchange the voucher for the actual pass. (You do that on site).

I'm sure a passport would be accepted as photo ID. If there is any doubt in your mind, give MS a call and see what they say - I would be shocked if they say a passport is not an acceptable form of ID.
