DVC annual pass renewal question

When you renew an annual pass….does it become effective that day and expires 365 days from the first time you used your previous annual pass…or does it become effective the first time you use your renewed annual pass?

The day the first AP expires, that's the day the renewal AP starts.

that is why I am not renewing my pass when it expires. My next trip after expiration is 6 months away so i am waiting to buy new ones then so I don't lose 6 months.

If you renew an AP, the new expiration date will be one year from the expiration of the old pass. For example, if your current AP expires on July 31, 2007, renewing it would get you an expiration date of July 31, 2008.
