DVC Annual pass discount?

my present pap expires 70 days before i will be in the world again, so i believe i will be better off waiting and paying the new ap price instead of the renewal price.

i had to figure the price of a day of an ap x 70 to come to that decision, that way i will be able to have an extra 70 days on the other end.;)

i may be back in the world before my expiration date to use the old one again. think i will not renew, but buy a new one.

i will not get the pap again unless they offer that great price.:thumbsup2 but i did enjoy the 20% discount. that saved a lot of money.

Renewals will always save money so it really is a question of whether you can get more use out of the pass by waiting and paying the "new" price.

Assume your pass expires tomorrow--9/1/13. If renewal price is paid the replacement AP will expire 9/1/14.

If your next trip isn't until 11/1/13, you could buy a new pass which will run until 11/1/14. But that new pass will cost more.

The question to ask yourself is whether you will take a trip between 9/1/14 and 11/1/14. If yes, then it probably makes sense to wait and pay the higher price. At least you're getting more value from the higher-priced AP. But if you won't take a trip between those dates, there's really no reason not to renew at the lower price.

Disney lowered some of the renewal prices last time out so that can help with the decision. Price of a "new" AP with the DVC discount is currently $494. AP renewal rate is only $419 and the PAP renewal is $526.

I hate to revive an old thread, but has anyone heard if they are offering these $399 DVC PAP's again? We go in early Nov, and I was really hoping they would, but I need to buy tickets soon so I can start making FP+ reservations. I haven't seen anything, but wanted to see if anyone else had, before I go and buy regular tickets.

There have been posts that some members have received postcards for renewals with a few extra dollars off.

My discounted AP cost me a fortune. I have done 3 trips in 12 months instead of 1....

Ditto! Well, we've done 3 and we're planning one more. We were only planning to do one. They definitely got more of our $$$ than we were originally planning to fork over.

I hope they repeat it again--in two or three years. I want a chance to visit all the other destinations I put off this year because we had the WDW passes. I'll be ready to do a Mega WDW year again around 2016 or 2017! :-) Bring back the discounted passes then!

We did an AP over 2012/2013 thinking it would save us money...Oh boy was I wrong! Wrong for the better :rotfl: We ended up sneaking in another fall trip (on top of the 2 10 day trips we had planned), getting the TiW card and eating TS non-stop...We are spoiled from here on out! That is how I would eat anyway, I don't love CS and I think it is a nice break, but wow! Now, the downside is we have to wait until 2015/2016 to do it again...I find that my PDD is even worse than usual because we had Disney overload and now a MAJOR dryspell...I think that may have contributed to us becoming DVC. So, if they had the discounted PAP again I can only imagine what that would do to us :) I think they will take a year off and do it again, to let all of the passes cycle through.

The major problem with Annual Passes concerns when they are in a drawer more than 100 miles from Disney World and they whine a lot and scream:

Use Me!
