DVC and Pop Warner Classic

Are there any DVC members out there who are also Pop Warner parents who must come in for the classic? Have you been able to take advantage of your DVC membership in any way?

What a bummer that we have points and annual pass that goes to waste because we MUST purchase "Pop Warner" pkg. at the moderate resorts.

I would appreciate any feedback!

A friend of mine is a DVC member and her DD is a pop warner cheerleader that always goes to Nationals, this year included. They stay the alotted time at the value resort and then extend for a few more days at OKW.

BTW, we were down for two weeks during the beginning of December 2 years ago, and the parks were full of PW kids!

How far ahead of time do you know your kids will qualify? From other posts on the DIS, I got the impression that many do not qualify until November.

If that's true, you'd probably have trouble booking a DVC resort - availability for the first two weeks of December usually dries up long before November. Even the waitlists are usually pretty full by then.

Or were you thinking of using your points at a non-DVD WDW resort? Even if you were, sometimes the weekend nights are hard to get - lots of people like to visit over a long weekend and attend MVMCP and enjoy the CP and other holiday activities. I've read that lots of the resorts are sold out for the weekends in early December.

Anyway, given all that, maybe the the Pop Warner packages aren't so bad. I'd be upset about being forced to purchase a package that included tickets if we already had APs, though. Hope you find a way around that.

We don't find out till the end of November....and you never know what kind of team you have at the beginning of the season...they sometimes surprise you!!!

I think I have figured out to book the week any way and I can always cancel what I don't need. I will purchase the minimum required from Pop Warner and stay in my "Wonderful Home Away From Home" the rest of the time.

This year I am going the 9th - 14th with the Pop Warner deal and back agian at OKW on the 26th - 3rd to celebrate my 50th....what a month! I suppose I could have it worse!!

Since you could still plan to keep a vacation for your dates even if the team doesn't win, I would say that would be a good way to do it!

That sounds great, but I am a teacher and it is frowned upon to take a weeks vacation in the middle of the school year. I haven't told my principal yet that I will be "sick" 4 days next week!!!
