I've gotten a bit confused, and given lots of conflicting info. DVC members can now purchase the DDP correct? I've been told you have to pay for it IN FULL when you book, but I've also seen you can add it up to 48 hours prior to check in and pay for it AT check in. Help!

Also, is it a CASH purchase or can you "pay" for it with DVC points?

It has to be for the entire length of your stay right? SO if we book for 7 days, we have to purchase 7 days of dining? The DDP is equal to your number of DAYS, not your number of NIGHTS right?

Correct

Correct. It can be added up to 48 hours prior to your arrival date and must be paid for in full at the time it's added.

Points can only be used for your accommodations.

The DDP must be added for all NIGHTS of your stay.

Thank you thank you!! This actually saves us some money if we buy the DDP (I thought I had to buy 7 DAYS worth instead of 6 NIGHTS for our seven day stay). $110 is a decent savings!

Also, we'd have to book in Feb for our September trip (seven months for non home resort using a relatives points. never done DVC before), so waiting until 48 hours before the trip would give us WAY more time to save up for the DDP, or at least until our tax return comes in haha!

Keep in mind that if you do any dining event that requires prepayment (Cinderella's Royal Table, Hoop-Dee-Doo Review, etc) and want to use DDP credits, if the DDP is not already on your room reservation you will have to pay for it with a credit card when the dining reservation is made. They will not automatically switch them to use DDP credits, you will have to do that yourself.

Thanks...think we are sticking to the normal restaurants for this trip. Maybe toss a signature into there too!

Does anyone know if you reserve the HDDR before you add the dining plan, pay for it with credit card, and then later add the DDP and want to use points for the reservation, when does the money get refunded to your credit card??

It won't happen automatically. You would need to contact Disney Dining once you've added the DDP.

Last year I was told that you would be refunded when you showed up at the meal and you informed them that you were now on the dining plan.

We ended up just adding the dining plan and booking it that way to begin with so not sure if that was completely accurate or not.

Good luck!

Can someone please let me know if they think this would benefit me?

My mother and I are planning to be at Disney for 3 nights end of August.
After our 3rd night, we are switching resorts and meeting up with my dh and ds for 5 nights.

My mother and I are planning to do California Grill, Ohana (maybe) and Citricos. Would it be benneficial for us to get the DDP for the 3 nights/4 days? Am I paying for Wednesday if I am "checking out" of BLT and moving to BWVs?

Thanks!

You only pay for nights spent at a resort. Your DDP would be attached your reservation for the first resort (3 nights worth).

Jumping in here so that I can understand this. So are you saying if I purchase the Candlelight Processional dinner package next year for our Dec. 2013 stay, I will need to prepay for the package? I do not want to order the dining plan until 48 hours prior to our arrival and we will have a party of 11. And then when will tell them that I have switched to the dining plan?

The Candlelight Processional is a credit card hold event, not a pre-pay. You pay for it at the restaurant.

Oh, okay. That's better. I realized looking back at my post that I said we were going Dec. 2013. I meant Dec. 2012. Oops!

Thanks for the clarification about the CP!
