dvc and dining option?

I am going to rent points from a dvc member and have been wondering if I can get the park tickets with dining option?

at this time no. WDW does not offer the dining plan to those of us with DVC.. and since you are renting you are not booking your vacation with one of thier packages.. that is the only way to add the dining plan.

As DVCJen stated it is not an option when using DVC points. The Dining option is part of a "whole package" the package consists of Rooms and Tax, customizable MYW theme park tickets and dining. You can not get the dining without the entire package.

Thanks everybody. It seems like just another way Disney tries to get all the money they can out of you. I am renting points to save money - of course! I checked into Disney's vacation packages. Let me tell you, $1780 for 2 adults and 1 kid for 5 days at one of the value resorts with 6-day base tickets and the meal plan doesn't sound like much of a deal to me. And that is before taxes.
Obviously, I don't make as much money as most of you on these boards. I don't want this to be the only vacation I take this year, so I don't intend to waste money on unnecessary expenses.
By the way, how much are they charging for sodas this year? Is it still around $2.50? It's things like that that really get me about Disney.

Do you have AAA? If so, you can get a discount on the room if you book the package through AAA.

Remember if you are renting points and staying at a DVC resort you will have a mini kitchen (frig, microwave, toaster, coffee maker) in your room. There are several grocery stores in the area where you can stock up on sodas, breakfast and lunch items to save some money. We do this all the time.

If you are staying in a one bedroom or larger you will have a full kitchen..fully equipped where you can prepare as many of your meals as you choose. Another great money saving option.

Honestly, have you been to a movie theater lately? The same soda that is $2.50 at Disney is $3.50 to $4 depending on the theater, at least in the San Antonio area.

Honestly? Yes, I have. But I don't go to movie every day, all day long.

Honestly, then I would put sodas into your "unnecessary expenses" column and drink water out of the fountains for free.

I thought Disney "only" charges $2 for bottled soda/water now.
Agree -- with a DVC property, I would buy or bring my own drinks and use those as much as possible.

If you really want to save money, don't do the dining plan. You have to do a lot of eating to use it up.

It will just be me and my 13-year-old daughter. Together we don't weight 180 lbs. so you can see we aren't big eaters!

After researching some of the restaurants' menus I've got a pretty good idea of where to go and where not to go. Plus, we aren't people that have to go to fancy restaurants every night we're there! Also, we can split entrees... Plus, I always take a backpack of our own cold water and drinks.

We are scheduled for 5 nights and my daughter just told me that the only park she is really interesting in going to is Epcot. So, I'm not even going to fool with getting anything more than 2-day tickets, maybe 3-day...

We've been to everything before, twice. We've seen it, done it.
