We are DVC'ers and had a 5 night reservation booked at the BCV on points and added the DDP, then I found cheap airline tickets and we decided to take them so we arrive a day earlier. Nothing was available on points at the BCV for the extra night so I booked it as a cash reservation with member discount and the DDP...so obviously it has a seperate reservation number but they are "linked" per member services.

My question is will we have to use or lose all of the first days DDP meals/snacks that first day, or will they just be pooled with the other 5 days credits?? (in other words do we have 1 set of credits for 6 days or a set for 1 day and a set for 5 days??)

Going by some other threads that I have read (specifically one about doing split stays and another on making separate ressies so as not to have to have the DDP for the entire length of stay) I do not think that they will be "pooled". You will have a set of credits for one day and then another for the 5 days. I could be wrong, but I think that is the way it works.

I was afraid of that...oh well we will figure it out. I assume we can use day 1 credits until midnight of the "check out day" which is the first day of the 5 day ressie. We will just need to be sure and use the right room cards.

Did you have to get the DDP separately with each reservation - (we had it that way with a split stay) - so perhaps, you might not want it for the 1 day.

I just got back from a 6 night stay - our first night was cash through MS, the next 5 nights were on points. All 6 nights counted as one stay even though the reservation numbers were different. All the dining plan credits were available to us on day one (they gave us a printout at check in that listed our credits). In fact, I was told that we had to order the dining plan for the entire 6 nights b/c they were considered one stay (otherwise, I was just going to get it for the 5 nights on points). I think your first day's credits will be good for the duration of your stay.

Could it be that you have to un-link your reservation and risk switching rooms if you do not want the dining plan for the entire duration of your stay???

If it's truly linked, you will have to get to the dining plan for the entire six nights. If it's the same exact unit type then you should be OK.
