DVC and cruising discounts?

We are considering purchasing DVC and also love DCL. I know that it is not a great use of points to use DVC for cruising - but am wondering if there are DVC discounts for cash purchases for Disney cruises? Kind of like the Florida resident rates, etc?

Nope, no discount. You also need to know that any discount can and does change so don't buy because of a discount or perk.

I believe that DCL had extended a cash discount offer to DVC members three times so far. These cash discounts weren't much different than the discounts that were available to the general public at the same time. When DCL does offer a discount, it's typically after the PIF date so the cruise must be paid for in full at the time of booking.
